We are looking for an experienced Claims Manager to take primary responsibility for our French reinsurance portfolio across Property and Casualty lines, with a particular focus on Motor and Bodily Injury, while also supporting selected other markets.

 

Your responsibilities

 

  • Take primary responsibility for the French reinsurance claims portfolio across Property and Casualty lines, with a particular focus on Motor and Bodily Injury
  • Manage complex reinsurance claims from notification to final settlement, including analysing insurance and reinsurance coverage, assessing liability, reserves and indemnity exposure, and making claims decisions within your authority
  • Provide an independent view on reserve adequacy and estimate exposures arising from major NatCat events and complex loss scenarios
  • Plan and conduct client claims reviews in close cooperation with Underwriting
  • Prepare, negotiate and conclude commutations where appropriate
  • Support the active management of the French portfolio by identifying claims trends, reserve developments, emerging risks and commutation opportunities
  • Monitor legal and market developments in France and translate relevant findings into actionable insights for internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with Underwriting by providing claims insights, lessons learned and portfolio-level feedback to support underwriting decisions and business development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cedants, brokers, co-reinsurers and internal stakeholders, and represent NewRe professionally in external discussions
  • Support selected other markets as required and contribute to cross-market collaboration within the Claims team
  • Contribute to global Claims initiatives and actively support the delivery of the Claims Ambition 2030
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analytics, digitalisation, automation and AI-enabled solutions

 

Your profile

 

  • Several years of claims or underwriting experience within the French Property and Casualty insurance or reinsurance market
  • Strong technical expertise in Motor and/or Bodily Injury claims is highly desirable
  • Higher education and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance contracts, with an affinity for the legal and technical aspects of claims handling
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex matters clearly and concisely
  • A solution-oriented and client-focused mindset, combined with sound judgement, diplomacy and the confidence to make independent decisions
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues and stakeholders across different cultures and functions
  • A data-driven mindset with an interest in portfolio analytics, trend identification and underwriting insights
  • Strong interest in AI and digital capabilities, with a willingness to explore innovative solutions that support claims excellence
  • High level of commitment and willingness to travel

  • Fluent business French and English, both written and spoken
