We’re looking for our next Wording Associate.  Could It Be You?
We are looking for a dynamic and business-oriented Wording Specialist, for Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada.  The Wording Specialist plays a critical role in shaping the risk profile of MROC’s reinsurance treaty portfolio.  This position partners closely with Underwriting, Claims and Legal to structure, negotiate and govern complex treaty wordings across all Lines of Business.

    Provide consulting, training, research, and transactional contract wording drafting, reviewing, research and template development services for MROC across all lines of reinsurance business
    Review reinsurance placement slips and contracts for a variety of contract types and lines of business (including, but not limited to): property, casualty, professional lines, cyber and surety
    Negotiate reinsurance terms and conditions directly with clients, through brokers and in cooperation with Underwriting and Client Management teams
    Conduct primary insurance policy reviews and support internal contract audits, provide sound recommendations to ensure business is underwritten in compliance with Munich Re guidelines and policies
    Develop and implement contract reviewing guidelines
    Advise the underwriting teams and senior management of legal/regulatory developments and emerging contract wording topics
    Conduct internal and external seminar presentations on relevant legal and emerging trending risks
    Train underwriters on relevant legal topics and guidelines, and actively contributes as a member of Munich Re’s Wording Expert Community
    Ensure efficient coordination with internal stakeholders within MROC and the Munich Re Group
    Influence and ensure high-quality contract wordings within the business area by leveraging Munich Re's wording governance tools, including future Al-augmented applications

So are YOU our next Wording Specialist? You are if…

    University Degree in business, risk management, law or a relevant discipline
    5+ years of reinsurance/insurance experience with demonstrated expertise in contract or insurance wordings.
    Familiarity with insurance contracts and wordings in the Canadian marketplace
    Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and networking skills for all levels of the organization
    Well-developed analytical skills, highly motivated
    Builds relationships with internal and external clients in support of business objectives
    Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products and aptitude for new computer systems
    Pursuing CIP/FCIP designation is an asset
    Fluency in French is an asset

Our base salary range for this role is between $122,485 and $158,510 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.

This role is located in our Toronto office on 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
