Title: Senior Actuarial Associate, Group Reinsurance

Position Overview
The Group Reinsurance Team is focused on acquiring and maintaining clients through fostering strong relationships, developing innovative solutions, and evaluating product profitability for the group benefit line of business in the Canadian and Caribbean markets. As an Senior Associate, you’ll be challenged to understand key drivers in profitability due to changes in assumptions, reinsurance agreements, industry trends, and product design. You’ll have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects including developing client strategies, reporting profitability to senior management, market research, and quoting on special business.
Key Accountabilities
Pricing and Product development
- Contributes to the preparation of quotation proposals, provides required analysis and prepares recommendations and solutions that maximize sales success and profitability.
- Prepares financial results reports and participates in the profit monitoring and management of the business.
- Assists in the completion of experience studies, pricing strategies and setting best estimate pricing assumptions.
- Works on the development and provides support for the maintenance of Group pricing basis and service offer for the Canadian and Caribbean markets.
Research and Development
- Performs research activities to support the development of products and services as well as provides value added surveys and other relevant market data to both internal and external customers.
- Gathers research required to support client relationship management meetings.
- Conducts client and industry surveys, performs analysis and identifies key findings from data.
- Participates in reviews of legislation/regulation changes that may have an impact on products, services and reinsurance arrangements.
- Supports the development of regular industry publications.
Client Support
- Assists in addressing the needs of clients in a timely and professional manner, advising management of any business issues impacting Munich Re and/or our clients.
- Works closely with clients and strategic partners to support mutually beneficial product development initiatives, service offerings and other reinsurance solutions that lead to profitable growth opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Location: Toronto or Montreal
- University Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- ASA and progression towards FCIA/FSA designation.
- 3+ years experience in the Canadian Life and Health insurance/reinsurance industry
- Strong analytical and modeling skills.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with co-workers.
- Excellent communication skills as demonstrated in general conversation, with clear, complete responses, formal presentations and written documents.
- Strong problem solving and organization skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and effectiveness working under tight timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a dynamic environment
- Advanced Software/application knowledge including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Software/application knowledge including Axis, SQL Server, R, and Power BI.
