Reinsurance Trainee, Claims (12-month Contract)

Position Overview
- Actively participates in claims and reinsurance training.
- Learn to review claims effectively and efficiently.
- Adapt to internal systems and refer claims appropriately for final approval.
- Develop client management skills and knowledge.
Your Role:
Claim Adjudication
- Actively participate in and complete internal and external training focused on claim adjudication, insurance risk selection and reinsurance principles.
- Apply claim investigation and client management practices to determine acceptability of reported claims, within treaty standards, company best practices and service turnaround times.
- Develop skills to handle all claim documentation in an appropriate and orderly manner, perform required claim file follow ups.
- Learn to identify coverage and payment discrepancies.
- Utilize data management and claim system software and tools effectively to adjudicate claims under guidance.
- Work within documented training plan and authority limits and limited supervision.
- Demonstrate technical claim risk knowledge through internal quality audit findings.
Client Management
- Develop skills to interact with client company claim examiners, respond to inquiries within service turnaround times and strive to build positive client relationships.
- Learn fundamentals of client and business lines as required
- Contribute to overall team, department and company objectives.
Your Profile:
- University degree.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in English/French is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and to quickly and accurately review data.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions using available and sourced data.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Possess a drive for results with successful collaboration and team work and a positive and ambitious attitude.
- Ability to positively influence negotiations and build solid relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Access is an asset.

Our base salary range for this role is between $65,455 and $75,790 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.
This role is located in our Toronto office on 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model. This job posting is for a new vacancy.
