We’re looking for our next Corporate Accountant.  Could It Be You?
Reporting into the Supervisor, Corporate Accounting, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for various internal and external financial reporting including the preparation and submission of financial statements, preparation of commentary to support the financial statements and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of said financial information via creation and population of the quarterly ‘audit file’. They will support the business with strong financial accounting knowledge in a multi GAAP environment.

•    Take a lead role in the preparation, review, challenge, presentation and reporting of annual plan figures on both a legal & management view as well as local or group accounting basis.
•    Take a lead role in the preparation, review, challenge, presentation and reporting of quarterly forecasting figures on both a legal & management view as well as local or group accounting basis.
•    Take a lead role in the preparation, review, challenge, presentation and reporting of quarterly Actual figures on both a legal & management view as well as local or group accounting basis.
•    Take a lead role in the preparation, review, challenge, presentation and reporting of solvency/MCT position.
•    Take a lead role in the monitoring of actual results to forecast & plan, including the preparation of variance analysis and management reporting.
•    Own the process of completing various home office reporting requirements and schedules including submission of data through the companies accounting & reporting systems.
•    Monitor, analyze and produce insightful & compelling commentary on results and drivers.
•    Preparation of the applicable section of the CFO report, completing commentary as appropriate
•    Preparation and calculation of income and other taxes and assist in regular tax filings
•    Work closely with other departments, i.e. Actuarial/Underwriting, to ensure knowledge of the business is up to date and to work collaboratively to complete timely reporting.
•    Assist in departmental, company and global projects as required with a focus on ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
•    Other ad hoc tasks as reasonably assigned.

First and foremost, we’re looking for well-rounded individuals who are professional, have great communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external clients.  You’ll be joining an energetic and goal-oriented team that uses a collaborative approach to working within all areas of the company, and focuses on achieving the greater objectives of Munich Re.

Specifically, we’re looking for the following qualifications:
•    University or College degreee & holder of professional designation e.g. CPA or equivalent.
•    5+ years of accounting experience.
•    Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications.
•    Proficient in Excel (Vlookups, Pivots, VBA).
•    Proven ability to deliver high quality results and meeting deadlines.
•    Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
•    Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
•    Aptitude for figures & strong analytical skills.
•    Working knowledge of Power BI and SAP nice to have.
•    Treasury/investment experience nice to have.
•    Knowledge in insurance-related databases, SAS, SQL, R, and/or Python is an asset
•    Knowledge of FCT, Power BI, and Risk Explorer are strongly desired.

Our base salary range for this role is between $85,425 and $110,550 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.
