Title: Senior Facultative Underwriter

We are looking for an experienced Property Facultative Underwriter (m/f) with focus on Engineering and Fire reinsurance business for our underwriting team in Tokyo. The role is responsible for business development and underwriting of facultative business from our important Japanese market.
Your Role:
• Underwriting facultative Engineering business such as Construction / Erection All Risks / Delay in Start Up (DSU) / Machinery Breakdown / Operational PD/BI/MB risks for Power plants, including assessing the risks, evaluating and providing reinsurance terms and conditions in accordance with the applicable underwriting authority, underwriting guidelines, internal directives, targets and client strategies.
• Growing our existing book of business and exploiting new business potentials by closely interacting with clients, understanding their strategy and business needs for developing joint opportunities.
• Developing innovative insurance solutions and products in addition to conventional covers in close co-operation with other business units.
• Supporting our client management and our treaty underwriters on technical questions and business development by taking a high degree of personal initiative and consistently exploiting all synergies available with Munich Re worldwide.
• Developing and executing risk-management concepts including joining risk inspections for target risks and supporting clients on risk assessment matters.
• Organizing and conducting seminars / workshops for clients and internal staff, providing clients with value-added services.
• Executing portfolio performance and market analysis.
Your Profile:
• Professional underwriting experience in the Japanese primary insurance market for 5 – 10 years with Engineering Lines (CAR / EAR / DSU / MB / Operational PD/BI/MB risks for Power plants) (Re)insurance for the Large Corporate Single Risks.
• Desirable experience in engineering and risk management / risk inspections.
• Good IT and analytical skills.
• Knowledge and experience to use natural catastrophe model as an advanced user level are preferable.
• Underwriting experience of Property insurance for the Large Corporate Single Risks large are preferable in addition.
• Fluent in Japanese (written and spoken) and fluent business English (written and spoken).
• Good communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work as a team player within a multi-cultural and multi-location environment.
