Reporting to the Head of Pricing, you will be working as a key contributor to evolve and grow the traditional life and health business in Munich Re Japan (MRJ) branch.
Your responsibilities include performing experience studies, product risk assessment and technical pricing. Being part of a dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to drive and manage pricing initiatives independently. In this capacity, the Pricing Actuary is responsible for maintaining communication with the regional Pricing & Underwriting team, the broader MRJ teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure that MRJ’s risk management framework, including its pricing practices and standards are updated promptly.
You would expect frequent exposure and high visibility among regional stakeholders, which provide a broad range of opportunities and career paths within Munich Re.
Your Role:
The Pricing Actuary is expected to contribute to a range of activities, including but not limited to the following:
- Primarily responsible for providing expert inputs on risk assessment of Japan life and health insurance products, putting the country specific regulatory, product, distribution context into perspectives for all key stakeholders including regional and headquarter counterparts
- Perform technical pricing, assuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with the relevant guidelines and authorities.
- Perform experience analysis, extracting insights and articulating observations with reference to Japan market context.
- Project manage pricing traditional reinsurance opportunities, including relevant interactions with regional stakeholders in an independent, professional and timely manner.
- Support MRJ’s initiatives by providing suggestions for risk management and mitigation, while maintaining accountability for relevant technical communications with LH2.
Your Profile:
- 5+ years of experience in actuarial functions within Japan life and health insurance industry
- Excellent technical and analytical skills, with a logical and concise approach and a strong attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of products and the insurance environment in the Japan life and health insurance market is essential.
- Prior experience in multi-national insurers and reinsurers will be a strong advantage
- Native in Japanese and working proficiency in English (both verbal and written at a business level)
