This role sits within the F&C department in Sydney and provides technical and administrative underwriting support across the full underwriting lifecycle, including new business, renewals, endorsements, and related accounting activities, with a focus on corporate direct business. The position reports to local F&C management and works closely with Underwriters, Finance, Accounting, and regional colleagues within Munich Re’s global operating framework.
Your Role
- Provide consistent administrative and operational support to underwriters for new and renewal business across the underwriting lifecycle, including the accurate capture and maintenance of risk data in core underwriting systems.
- Manage and clear submissions in relevant Munich Re global systems, including the structured setup and ongoing maintenance of electronic folders for new and renewal business.
- Perform sanctions checks in accordance with internal policies and ensure results are appropriately documented and filed in electronic records.
- Handle endorsements in line with underwriting and operational requirements.
- Manage related accounting activities, including the identification, investigation, and resolution of accounting discrepancies.
- Track receipt of closings, actively follow up on outstanding items, and perform tax verification.
- Proactively request and follow up on missing information from brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders to support timely and accurate processing.
- Ensure a high standard of data quality, accuracy, and consistency across source systems in line with internal controls and governance requirements.
- Collaborate effectively within Munich Re’s global operating framework, including interaction with regional and international colleagues.
Your Profile
- Operational or processing background, preferably within insurance or reinsurance; candidates with experience in finance or comparable regulated industries will also be considered.
- Approximately 2–3 years of relevant professional experience in underwriting support, underwriting analysis, operations, or accounting support.
- Basic understanding of primary insurance and/or reinsurance underwriting processes is considered an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated focus on data accuracy, quality assurance, and control standards.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Proactive and service‑oriented mindset, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them through to completion.
- Positive attitude, ability to work independently, willingness to learn, and a strong team orientation.
