About the opportunity

Our paid internship program will run from early December 2026 to mid-February 2027, with a break over the holiday period. You will be placed in one team for the duration of the internship, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to meaningful work.

 

This internship is suited to students interested in data, technology, and business problem solving. As part of a cross-functional team supporting Munich Re's Life and Health business across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, you will contribute to analytics and AI-related initiatives, gain exposure to the insurance industry, and work alongside experienced professionals to support real-world business outcomes

 

The work you’ll get involved in includes:

 

  • Support the preparation, organisation, and structuring of reference information used in analytics and AI initiatives.
  • Gain practical knowledge of the Australian life insurance industry through exposure to product information, business processes, and industry practices.
  • Develop Python-based tools and automated workflows to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support project delivery.
  • Work as an active member of a cross-functional project team and contributing to project delivery.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams, actuaries, data scientists, and business stakeholders across APAC, Middle East, and Africa to support project requirements.

 

 

 

Your Profile

 

  • Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree (minimum third year) or enrolled in a Master’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
  • Familiar with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, or open-source LLMs) and the basics of prompt engineering.
  • Strong interest or foundational knowledge in OCR, LLMs, and agentic AI frameworks.
  • Experience with Python, along with familiarity in SQL and/or JavaScript; hands-on experience building demos or applications using Streamlit, Gradio, or modern web frameworks such as React or Vue.
  • You will be located in Australia and able to attend our Sydney office for the internship period. Whilst we offer flexible working, we would encourage you to be in person to get the most out of this experience.
