Reporting to the Head of Claims, Life & Health Southeast Asia & High Net Worth, the Claims Consultant will be part of the Munich Re Singapore Claims team, focusing on technical claims assessment while delivering exceptional client and customer service.

Your Role

  • Assess claims across a portfolio that includes Critical Illness (CI), Total and Permanent Disability (TPD), Long-Term Care (LTC), and Death benefits, and provide expert advice to clients on these portfolios.
  • Advise and support client companies on disputed or complex claims, as well as on claims management practices and assessments procedures.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in reinsurance treaties, reinsurance processes, and training.
  • Contribute to quotations for new and existing treaties, including developing appropriate claims guidelines for all products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Participate in audits of client companies and provide analysis, risk mitigation insights and practical recommendations for business improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders—including Client Management, Pricing, Underwriting, and the Regional Claims and Underwriting teams—to identify and manage key portfolio risks.
  • Work collaboratively within the Munich Re Singapore team to drive process enhancements and strengthen technical capabilities in claims.
  • Engage actively with industry associations and represent Munich Re’s interests when required.
  • Deliver training sessions and seminars to clients as needed.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science, medical science, pharmacy, insurance related studies is preferred
  • 5–10 years of life insurance experience, ideally in a claims assessment role.
  • Reinsurance life claims experience is desirable but not essential. Knowledge of reinsurance practices will be an advantage.
  • Strong technical competencies in assessing Critical Illness (CI), Total and Permanent Disability (TPD), Death, and Long-Term Care (LTC) claims.
  • Experience in claims auditing (including internal quality assurance) is an advantage.
  • Willingness to undertake client audits within Singapore and across the broader Asia region.
  • Conscientious, diligent and a self-motivated team player.
  • Proactive individual who can work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both verbal and written), complemented by strong organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrates initiative and sound decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
