You will join the Southeast Asia underwriting team as Property Treaty Underwriter in Singapore and will be responsible for various property underwriting tasks which vary across risk assessment of Property treaty business by natural catastrophe/fire/engineering risk, pricing, contractual wording, product/solution development and client dialogue.

 

Your Role:

Underwriting:

  • Technically assess property treaty accounts/structures using natural catastrophe models and statistical tools
  • Price and discuss terms and conditions of programs along with our client management team
  • Ensure underwriting excellence from technical pricing to contract wording
  • Participate in dialogue and exchanges between underwriting teams, experts within the Munich Re group (e.g., developing pricing models/tools) and with external expertise
  • Understand exposures and coverage provided under other line of business for appropriate assessment of multi-line treaties
  • Lead and support cross-functional projects, property specific projects, and conduct market research, as applicable
  • Coach, guide, and train junior underwriters on underwriting, market, and client topics

Product development:

  • Take challenges in exploring new business ideas and product development both in reinsurance and primary insurance; non-traditional product (catastrophe triggers, public private partnership, digital products etc.)
  • Consultation for clients to identify pain-points/growth opportunity

Client facing and marketing:

  • Support our client management team on technical aspects, in dialogue and negotiation with clients and brokers

 

Your profile:

  • University degree preferably in Natural / Computer Science, Mathematics / Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or relevant insurance qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in treaty (re)insurance
  • A high degree of analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with a structured and logical thinking process
  • Experience in programming would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the Southeast Asian re/insurance market, e.g., original policy coverage, market facts
  • Strong interest in catastrophe insurance and aspiration of career development in treaty underwriting field
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team with good project management skills
  • High level of curiosity and interest in skills development
  • Proficient in managing relationships, including effective stakeholder relationship management
  • Willingness to travel
