We are looking for an Associated Property Underwriter with focus on single-risk property business for our underwriting team in Singapore. Reporting to the Head of Facultative & Corporate South-East Asia, you will be responsible for business development, underwriting and administration of facultative and corporate business for our South East Asia business.

YOUR ROLE

  • Assist in underwriting facultative and corporate property business across South East Asia, including supporting risk assessments, preparing reinsurance terms and conditions, and working within established underwriting authority, guidelines and client strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a sustainable portfolio by supporting senior underwriters in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities while building relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Support in the preparation of innovative insurance solutions and products working closely with other business units.
  • Provide technical support to client managers and treaty underwriters by assisting in research, documentation and data analysis, while learning to leverage synergies across Munich Re worldwide.
  • Participate in risk management activities, including joining risk inspections under the guidance of senior underwriters and assisting clients on risk assessment matters where required.
  • Help organize and coordinate seminars / workshops for clients and internal staff contributing to knowledge-sharing and value-added services.
  • Assist in portfolio monitoring, performance tracking and market analysis ensuring data accuracy and providing input for decision-making.
  • Continuously expand technical and market know-how through learning, training and active engagement in daily underwriting activities.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Professional experience ( at least 3 years) in the insurance or reinsurance market preferably with exposure to Property (Re)insurance for large corporate or commercial risks.
  • Basic understanding of underwriting processes including risk evaluation, pricing and familiarity with reviewing contract wordings; eager to further develop technical expertise.
  • Strong motivation to engage with clients and brokers and to build commercial acumen under the mentorship of experienced underwriters.
  • Interest in property underwriting, risk management and risk inspections.
  • Solid IT and analytical skills, with the ability to work with data and reporting tools.
  • Strong team player with creativity and the ability to work in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluent in business English (spoken and written); additional Asian language skills would be an advantage.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a willingness to grow negotiation skills.
