Title: (Senior) Cyber Underwriter, Southeast Asia

The APA Cyber team is a leading provider of Cyber insurance solutions in Asia Pacific and Africa, delivering unique and holistic solutions for commercial and personal lines. To drive our ambitious growth vision and maintain our market leadership, we are seeking a talented Cyber expert to join our team as an Underwriter, focussing on Southeast Asia (SEA).
As the lead Cyber Underwriter for SEA, you will play a key role in developing and underwriting Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance Cyber business in Southeast Asia, whilst working closely with our dedicated Asia Cyber team based in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and India. Your primary responsibilities will be divided into three pillars: Market Shaping, Client Enabling, and Risk Taking, supporting our global Cyber strategy.
Your Role:
Market Shaping:
- Drive business development by acting as a trusted market expert and thought leader in Cyber insurance, engaging a broad range of stakeholders to unlock new partnership opportunities.
- Strategically identify and shape new business opportunities through close collaboration with the Head of Cyber Asia, Client Management, and P&C Facultative teams, aligning client needs with innovative cyber solutions.
- Accelerate market growth by leveraging the capabilities of regional and global cyber teams, while building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships with brokers and cedents.
Client Enabling:
- Prepare, present, and deliver customized solutions to clients and prospects, advancing our product and service offerings through collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Participate in seminars, events, and conferences to raise awareness of Cyber insurance and reduce the penetration gap across the region.
Risk Taking:
- Ensure high-quality technical Cyber underwriting, including premium calculation and stipulation of reinsurance conditions, in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authorities.
- Monitor market trends and performance, participating in global projects and expert groups to connect with our global cyber community.
Your Profile:
- University degree in IT security or computer sciences, other technical degree or university degree, economics, law, or other, IT-security certifications, e.g. CISSP, or similar
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in Cyber security consulting and/or Cyber underwriting (treaty and facultative)
- Demonstrated experience in client work (at least 5-10 years) with a client-centric approach to business development
- Sound understanding of insurance and reinsurance business
- Ability to generate ideas for improvement, take advantage of opportunities, and suggest innovations
- Strong sales attitude, creativity, and drive to get things done
- Excellent spoken and written business English
