Description: 

We are looking for an experienced actuary to support us in shaping our business development activities.

You will be responsible for underwriting reinsurance portfolios at Munich Re do Brasil, with special emphasis in Casualty, guaranteeing the development and profitability of our portfolio and helping our clients grow their business. 

As an actuary, you will support our team of Non-Life underwriters by developing studies and actuarial analysis to determine proper parameters for pricing and will also contribute to the development of solutions for our clients.

Your role

Actively contribute to the development of MR Brazil operation by:

  • Designing business strategy for casualty treaty portfolio, aligning it with MR Brasil market approach and with risk appetite of head office. Casualty lines include Motor, Third Party Liability, E&O and D&O.
  • Underwriting Casualty automatic treaties, including coverage analysis, pricing and alignment of  offered terms of terms and negotiation strategies with Client Management.
  • Close monitoring the performance of portfolio in order to properly adjust risk appetite and guarantee our profitability.
  • Building a close relationship with clients, deeply understanding their portfolio,  their demands and pain points and structure reinsurance solutions that perfectly attend their capital and risk requirements.
  • Pro-actively contributing to business generation, through continuous monitoring market development and opportunities  and supporting innovation initiatives.
  • Developing studies and actuarial analysis in order to determine proper pricing and underwriting parameters and support technical and strategic decisions of the company.
  • Continuously improving our methodologies and tools used for market analysis and solution structuring.
  • Frequent interface with several units of the group (such as other Underwriting units, Corporate Underwriting) to exchange about local and foreign developments, internal and external topics and to also ensure Group guidelines, strategy and profitability standards
  • Constant interface with local internal stakeholders, such as Underwriters of other Lines of Business, Client Management, Claims and Back Office departments, to maintain and develop a profitable portfolio.

 

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuary.
  • Seven or more years of experience in the product or actuarial department of (re) insurance companies. Experience in Motor Insurance is valued.  
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Highly committed, constructive and effective team player.
  • Curious, enthusiastic, with keen interest in understanding trends and our customer needs.
  • Hands on approach, being involved in all operational processes of treaty management cycle.
  • Business-fluent English.
