Legal Claims Manager (m/f/d*) - Munich RE do Brasil

As a Legal Claims Manager within our Brazil Claims team, you will take ownership of complex litigated claims across Casualty and Financial Lines. Combining legal expertise with a collaborative and proactive mindset, you will play a key role in driving claim outcomes, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and contributing to a high-performing, knowledge-sharing environment. 

Your Job 

• Manage complex claims with legal involvement (litigated claims) across all lines of business, including all Casualty and Financial Lines claims (D&O, E&O), ensuring a proactive and strategic approach. 

• Collaborate with cedants and their legal teams to support effective claim resolution from a reinsurance perspective 

• Provide expert legal guidance to the Claims team on coverage interpretation, policy wording, and Brazilian insurance regulations 

• Handle and oversee large and complex claims end-to-end, ensuring accurate reserving and fair, timely settlements 

• Support Surety claims by advising on legal and contractual aspects alongside the primary Claims Manager 

• Identify and drive subrogation and mitigation opportunities 

• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders 

• Foster knowledge sharing within the team, contributing to capability building and continuous improvement 

• Support Underwriting and Client Management teams to enhance treaty wordings and contribute to business opportunities 

• Participate in strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects within Munich Re’s global Claims community 

Your Profile 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (Master’s degree is a plus) 

• Minimum of five years of proven experience in the (re)insurance market, either within (re)insurers or leading law firms 

• Experience in claims with legal exposure (not purely litigation-focused roles) 

• Strong understanding of coverage analysis, contract interpretation, and insurance law 

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships 

• Collaborative, flexible, and proactive mindset with ability to work independently in a dynamic environment 

• Strong organizational and project management skills, with a focus on knowledge sharing and team contribution 

• Fluent English (mandatory) and Spanish as a plus
