Our IT teams enable Munich Re to transform how we assess risk, develop products, serve clients and operate globally. By combining business insight, architecture expertise and data-driven innovation, we help shape the future of insurance.

Job Overview:

As a Solution Architect, you will design and guide end-to-end HR technology solutions across SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and connected enterprise systems. You will translate business, functional, security, data, and integration requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures that align with enterprise standards and long-term technology strategy.

Working closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, delivery teams, security partners, infrastructure teams, and external vendors, you will provide architectural direction from solution evaluation through implementation and governance. You will also promote SAP Clean Core principles, platform standardization, reuse, and sustainable BTP-based extensions and integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end solution architectures for SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll, SAP BTP, and related HR technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and enterprise architecture standards.

  • Translate business, functional, security, data, and integration requirements into solution and technical architectures, identifying appropriate SAP and non-SAP technologies, integration patterns, and implementation approaches.

  • Define integration architectures across SuccessFactors EC, Employee Central Payroll, SAP BTP, and internal and external systems using appropriate APIs, middleware, integration technologies, and standardized patterns.

  • Provide architectural guidance for SAP BTP-based extensions, integrations, automation, and application services while avoiding unnecessary customization of core applications.

  • Own and maintain architecture artifacts, including architecture diagrams, integration designs, system context diagrams, interface patterns, technology decisions, and component specifications.

  • Evaluate solution options and recommend approaches based on business value, functionality, user experience, scalability, security, maintainability, performance, cost, and long-term technology strategy.

  • Ensure solutions comply with enterprise standards for security, identity and access management, data privacy and protection, auditability, monitoring, operational resilience, performance, and supportability.

  • Guide proposed solutions through Architecture Review Boards and technology governance processes, documenting architectural decisions, risks, dependencies, and exceptions.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and other Solution Architects to align HR technology solutions with the broader enterprise roadmap, technology standards, and strategic platform direction.

  • Identify opportunities for platform optimization, simplification, standardization, reuse, and modernization across HR technology investments.

  • Promote SAP Clean Core principles by balancing standard SAP capabilities with BTP-based extensions and integrations when requirements cannot be met through standard functionality.

  • Partner with business stakeholders, functional consultants, developers, integration teams, security teams, infrastructure teams, and external partners to support consistent implementation of the target architecture.

  • Provide technical input into product evaluations, vendor assessments, proofs of concept, technology roadmaps, and implementation strategies.

  • Stay current with SAP BTP, SuccessFactors, cloud architecture, integration technologies, security, and emerging HR technology capabilities, assessing potential organizational value.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience.

  • 4+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise IT solutions, preferably in financial services, insurance, or another complex and highly regulated industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in solution architecture or technical architecture, including translating business and functional requirements into technology solutions.

  • Hands-on experience or strong architectural knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll, including associated integrations and data flows.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) and Employee Central Payroll (ECP).

  • SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP Integration Suite / Cloud Integration.

  • EC-to-ECP employee and organizational data replication.

  • Integration of SuccessFactors with SAP and third-party applications.

  • SAP BTP extensions and side-by-side application architectures.

  • SAP and SuccessFactors APIs, including REST, SOAP, and OData.

  • XML, JSON, Groovy, and JavaScript.

  • Event-driven and API-based integration patterns.

  • Identity, authentication, authorization, secure connectivity, cloud security, privacy, and data protection.

  • Monitoring, logging, error handling, operational support, DevSecOps, and modern software development practices.

Architecture & Leadership Capabilities:

  • Strong understanding of solution architecture principles, architecture patterns, integration architecture, and cloud-native design concepts.

  • Experience applying IT security, risk, privacy, and regulatory requirements during solution design and delivery.

  • Ability to assess solutions from business and technology perspectives, balancing functional needs with security, performance, scalability, maintainability, cost, and operational considerations.

  • Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior business and technology leaders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and provide clear recommendations and rationale.

  • Proven ability to collaborate across business, functional, technical, security, infrastructure, vendor, and consulting teams.

  • Experience working in an international and geographically distributed environment is an advantage.
