This role will be part of the Regulatory Projects Tower for Group Technology (IT1.13), responsible for delivering strategic roadmaps driven by regulatory changes, audit remediation, and cyber/IT security projects across Munich Re, MEAG, and ERGO. The Tower manages project portfolios aligned with business stakeholder demands, including Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and IT Risk & Security (ITRS), overseeing prioritization, roadmap planning, financial management, and reporting. It ensures that any impact on MTB/RUN operations is identified and planned with the relevant project sponsors before initiating projects.

The Head of Subsection Risk Projects for Munich Re plays an important role in leading a team of delivery project managers and overseeing large-scale, strategic IT Risk and Security initiatives across Munich Re. This includes managing program financials, driving organizational change management, and ensuring successful delivery of key initiatives. Additionally this role also involves developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures that align with the company’s security and risk management objectives, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

 

Your job

* Define project scope, objectives, and key deliverables based on validated demand and document in project charter

* Develop strategic plans that balance delivery constraints, proactively optimizing for maximum value while minimizing risk

* Align project content with demand creators and other stakeholders within ERGO, ERGO International and Group organization, e.g. Governance committees, ITRS, 2nd LoD/IRM.

* Develop a well-defined program/project plans with timelines, budgets, and resource allocations and deliver on these plans based on group project methodology standards. Coordinate planning across multiple Project Managers and delivery teams

* Maintain transparent communication on project progress, risks, budget consumption, manage changes through the change control process, and manage escalations

* Baseline the plan requirements, designs, and manage required changes to scope, timeline and budget

* Challenge and intervene where there is scope creep, budget overrun, plan slippage and benefits

* Prepare reports in compliance with specific requirements and support risk & security reviews

* If applicable, prepare reports in compliance with specific requirements and support risk & security reviews

* Identify, track, and mitigate project risks and issues, with a focus on compliance risks and manage escalation, where necessary

* Actively manage and co-ordinate the program/project plan/roadmap, handling changes as they arise and keeping stakeholders focused on the agreed change outcomes and benefits

* Obtain sponsor and stakeholder sign-off for deliverables, formally close program/project, assess stakeholder satisfaction and capture feedback

* Capture key learns from each program/project and feed back into Global Transformation methodologies and best practice

* Provide closure documentation and conduct evaluations to ensure risk and/or security requirements are met

 

Your profile

* 7+ years of hands-on experience in a related role with extensive experience in global IT security and risk projects

* Extensive experience and deep understanding of the New Payments Platform including the Regulations and Procedures within the ERGO's environment

* In-depth understanding of Insurance and the regulations and standards

* Experience leading major programs, including technology transformation, IT security/cybersecurity, AI/ML, and regulatory compliance initiatives—preferably within the insurance sector

* Proven experience in both IT security, risk and business process project and program delivery at a global scale with high degree of complexity

* System and Process project delivery experience

* Excellent understanding of Business Transformation Frameworks, Agile/Waterfall methodologies, and best practice techniques

* A thorough understanding of the purpose, values, culture, and fundamentals of Global Transformation

* Strong ability to navigate organizational structures, business processes, and strategic objectives

* Comprehensive knowledge of Insurance and how transformation initiatives create value for the organization, customers, and stakeholders
