Role Overview 

We are seeking a Head of Subsection & Delivery Manager (DevSecOps) to lead a high‑performing team within GSI. This dual role combines people leadership with Cloud and DevOps delivery management across the MRSNA and HSB business units, ensuring operational excellence, innovation, and alignment with Munich Re’s strategic objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & People Management 

• Lead and develop a diverse team of professionals, fostering engagement, growth, and performance. 
• Set strategic direction for the subsection, aligning with GSI’s global objectives. 
• Represent the subsection in leadership forums, contributing to Munich Re’s overall specialty insurance strategy. 
• Drive operational excellence by managing resources, capacity, and financial planning. 
• Promote innovation and adaptability, encouraging the team to embrace new tools, processes, and industry trends. 

Cloud & DevOps Delivery Management 

• Provide Cloud & DevOps Leadership: Oversee design, implementation, and optimization of cloud operations and DevOps workflows. Champion the adoption of DevSecOps practices and cloud-native operating models across GSI. 
• FinOps Enablement: Coordinate cost‑efficiency initiatives to maximize strategic cloud investment through FinOps practices. 
• Multi‑Project Execution: Lead a team of 40+ internal and external cloud engineers and DevOps specialists to deliver complex, high‑impact projects across GSI. 
• Operational Excellence: Define and refine cloud practice operations, ensuring scalability, resilience, and automation. 
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Senior IT Leaders and Product Owners to establish and achieve key SLAs. Ensure business stakeholders realize value from cloud and DevSecOps investments. 
• Security & Compliance Alignment: Work closely with Global IT Risk and Security Management to ensure regulatory adherence and risk mitigation. 
• Continuous Innovation: Drive improvements in cloud delivery, security posture, and DevOps workflows to accelerate business transformation. 
• Oversee building scalable, secure, and cost‑effective cloud ecosystems, thriving in dynamic environments where innovation meets execution. 

Vendor & Partner Management 

• Manage relationships with external vendors and technology partners to ensure delivery quality, cost efficiency, and strategic alignment. 
• Negotiate contracts and service levels, ensuring vendors meet performance expectations. 
• Integrate vendor capabilities into Munich Re’s DevSecOps ecosystem to maximize value. 

Qualifications 

• Proven leadership experience managing large, diverse teams in insurance, financial services, or technology. 
• Experience developing cloud and DevSecOps talent pipelines. 
• Strong background in cloud operations, DevOps, and FinOps practices. 
• Experience applying Agile/DevOps delivery methodologies at scale. 
• Demonstrated ability to deliver multi‑project programs with 50+ engineers. 
• Experience in vendor management, including contract negotiation and performance oversight. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 
• Commitment to Munich Re’s values of curiosity, boldness, and presence. 
• Certification and extensive cloud architecture knowledge across both Azure and AWS public clouds, with proven ability to design and optimize enterprise‑scale solutions. 
• Cybersecurity expertise with relevant certifications and proven experience in IT risk management, ensuring secure operations in regulated cloud environments.
