Duties: Participating in Basic Loss Reserve Review, with focus on Ceded business. Ownership, technical development and preparation of PowerBI dashboard every quarter for Loss Complex and Outliers events. Contributing to quarterly reporting and closing to the non-life reinsurance business, requiring an in-depth understanding of Munich Re’s financial systems in processes. Ownership of tasks and deliverables in Annual statement reporting, specifically on Schedule P, Tax and the underlying workers compensation deliverables. Documenting and communicating assumptions, results and alternatives to actuarial staff and internal and external clients. Development of new solutions and business automations in R and PowerBI. Full ownership of development efforts including conceptualization, modelling and implementation. Calculation and monitoring of statutory workers compensation discount, requiring good understanding of the methods and practices in US Workers Compensation market and detailed knowledge of the respective reserve position. Actuarial evaluation and booking of finite, deposit and retroactive contracts on a single contract basis. Implementation of process improvements by facilitating BI reporting technology and actuarial methods. Participation in global projects to align local reserving process and systems with global products. Ownership of project workstreams, including time and milestone planning, stakeholder management and testing.

 

Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or a closely related quantitative field plus 2 years of work experience in an actuarial role. Must have passed at least 2 CAS/SOA exams.  Experience must include: Usage of industry actuarial concepts like IBNR, loss ratios, claims/premium trending, balance sheet KPIs; Creation of financial exhibits to analyze underwriting results and explain key loss drivers quarterly; Ownership of key actuarial presentations, serving as the main point of contact for underwriting results and reporting; Development of analytical dashboards in Power BI and Excel, leveraging SQL and SAS for data extraction, improving insights into provider performance and financial trends; Monthly quality assurance reviews of actuarial data systems, validating claims, provider group performance, and financial trends to ensure accuracy in reporting; Collaboration with IT teams, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation of new data systems for actuarial processes; Performing in-depth ad hoc analysis to investigate financial and loss trends based on business needs; and, reviewing and interpreting legal contracts evaluating financial risk structures, obligations, and reimbursement terms. May telecommute but must have ability to report to Princeton, NJ office 2 times per week.
