Munich Re F&C is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Casualty Underwriter to join its Corporate Insurance team, based in Paris.

 

Attached to the F&C Corporate Insurance team of the French branch based in Paris, you will work in a collaborative and international environment and report to the Head of Casualty Underwriting for International Corporate Business.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the profitability, technical quality and sustainable development of a Casualty portfolio within the Corporate Insurance business. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in driving technical excellence, supporting underwriting development across the team and contributing to Munich Re's market reputation and underwriting expertise.

 

 

Your Job

 

  • Underwriting and managing complex Casualty risks, primarily large industrial and corporate accounts.
  • Analyzing new business and renewal submissions, including risk exposure, claims experience and underwriting information received from brokers or clients.
  • Assessing risks, determining pricing and establishing contractual terms and conditions in line with underwriting guidelines and portfolio objectives.
  • Managing and developing client and broker relationships while supporting the profitable growth of the portfolio.
  • Collaborating with Munich Re entities, including Great Lakes, and other internal stakeholders to deliver tailored underwriting solutions.
  • Supporting client strategies and commercial initiatives through active market engagement and participation in client and broker meetings.
  • Contributing to internal projects, technical studies and underwriting initiatives across the Casualty community.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Underwriters and Junior Underwriters, fostering the development of underwriting capabilities, knowledge sharing and consistency of underwriting standards across the team.
  • Acting as a technical reference point within the team actively contributing to underwriting discussions, promoting best practices and representing Munich Re's underwriting expertise internally and externally with brokers, clients and other market stakeholders.

 

 

Your Profile

 

  • University degree or equivalent insurance qualification.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Casualty/Liability underwriting, including exposure to large corporate and industrial risks.
  • Strong technical underwriting and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to underwriting colleagues.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to represent underwriting expertise internally and externally.
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
