Based in Paris and reporting to the Director, Facultative & Corporate France, this senior position offers the opportunity to actively contribute to the development, profitability and strategic direction of the Facultative Engineering portfolio.

  • Supporting the growth of ceded business within treaty structures (Special Acceptances).
  • Managing and further developing long-term client and broker relationships, while acquiring new Engineering business across France and BeLux.
  • Applying a consultative selling approach, leveraging Munich Re’s global expertise to support direct insurance topics, innovation initiatives and bespoke client solutions.
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with cedants, brokers and relevant distribution channels.
    • Ensuring high-quality underwriting, including:
    • Comprehensive risk analysis and assessment
    • Pricing and structuring of complex reinsurance solutions
  • Drafting of terms and conditions in line with underwriting guidelines, authorities and client strategies.
  • Monitoring portfolio risk and preparing reports and management information in accordance with Group standards.
  • Acting as a technical expert, contributing to knowledge transfer through seminars, working groups and cross-functional projects within Munich Re.
  • Conducting risk assessments and site visits, and issuing loss prevention recommendations when required.
  • Advising on claims handling, including coverage assessment and indemnity decisions.
  • Supporting the preparation and delivery of client seminars and technical workshops.
  • Contributing to client strategy definition, commercial planning and internal client team coordination.
  • Serving as an active interface with Commercial Management and other technical departments (e.g. treaty underwriting and Engineering teams based in Munich).

YOUR PROFILE

  • Degree from an Engineering school or equivalent, in scientific, legal or insurance-related disciplines; Civil Engineering knowledge is a strong asset.
  • 5–10 years of professional experience, ideally as an Underwriter within a leading insurance and/or reinsurance company.
  • Strong expertise in Decennial Liability (DO) and IDI; experience in CAR, EAR, CECR and OpPower is a plus.
  • Sound understanding of facultative reinsurance fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to analyse and leverage underwriting information to support informed risk decisions.
  • High level of autonomy, accountability, responsiveness and analytical rigor.
  • Strong team player with the ability to thrive in a multicultural, international environment.
  • Comfortable operating in a complex and fast-paced environment, with shifting priorities.
  • Fluency in French is expected, with a strong command of English required to collaborate effectively within Munich Re’s international network
