Casualty Claims Manager (m/f/d)
Based in the 9th arrondissement, Munich Re's Paris office is in charge of the non-life reinsurance markets (Property, Casualty, other specialized business lines) for France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The position advertised is embedded in our local organization as well as in our virtual Global Claims team, reporting to the European Casualty team based in Munich. The main tasks are the evaluation and management of complex large losses and client portfolios, directly engaging with clients, brokers and external lawyers.

YOUR JOB

Managing major and complex Casualty claims (Liability of any type including General Liability, D&O, PI, Motor and Medical Malpractice) for the French, Belgian and Luxembourgish markets (80%).

Supporting Munich-based Property Claims managers with French market knowledge, as well as , e.g. in client and market meetings (20%).

Assessing indemnity and quantum within defined limits of authority/ultimate estimation of major losses and ongoing review of reserves for individual losses and loss complexes with a focus on impact, for example by negotiating coverage, liability and allocation issues.

Acting as an integral member of Munich-based European Casualty Claims team and providing support and expertise for Client Management and Underwriting.

Representing Munich Re within local professional organizations such as France Assureurs or APREF.
YOUR PROFILE

French Law degree, minimum 3 years Diploma or Master, alternatively a non-French Law degree and substantial experience in handling Casualty (and/or Property) claims in insurance and/or reinsurance.

Understanding of insurance and reinsurance coverage interpretation, loss reserving, loss report management, litigation management and client relationship management.

Good team player willing to build the bridge between Paris & Munich and vice versa. Willingness to travel to Munich on a regular basis.

Effective command of written and spoken business French and English.
