Duties: Implement secure and fault tolerant cloud infrastructure. Design, implement and maintain cloud infrastructure. Research and evaluate security standards as they apply to data applications and infrastructure. Review and oversight of engineering work and lead engineering projects. Develop software tools and automation of data infrastructure. Project & resource documentation and knowledge sharing. Elicit and translate business requirements and translate into project priorities and goals, functional and technical requirements and systems documentation. Design, develop and document internal processes. Provide infrastructure expertise to others.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Social Science, or a closely related field plus 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer or closely related position. Candidate’s prior experience must include: Applied knowledge in data modeling and programmatic data access techniques; Applied knowledge of relational database technologies and database development techniques; Working with relational SQL data stores; Designing and implementing programs using programming languages including Python & SQL; Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible, developing and using modules customized for multiple deployment environments with security of IaC tools; Working knowledge in the Linux operating system; Worked with Azure Cloud Infrastructure; Designing and developing RESTful API endpoints; Mentoring other data engineers; Applied knowledge of programming standards (including unit testing, version control and secure application development practices especially for data handling) and programming conventions (PEP for Python); and, demonstrated experience in ensuring high data quality and validation through batch processing in Databricks leveraging Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Entra ID Privileged Identity Management (PIM) for escalation in production environments. May telecommute but must have ability to report New York, NY office 3 times per week. The base salary range anticipated for this position is $161,710.12 to $161,710.12 per year plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
