Description: 

The Finance Strategy Team is a newly created function reporting into the CFO to help support the Company’s growth ambitions by providing timely insights into the financial and capital implications of new initiatives. The Manager & Actuary is responsible for the execution and delivery of actuarial work supporting complex and large reinsurance transactions supported by a team of actuarial students. The role supports the day‑to‑day actuarial coordination and analysis for assigned transactions, from onboarding through early in‑force reporting, ensuring actuarial deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with actuarial, accounting, local regulatory and governance requirements.

 

The Manager & Actuary will also own the capital management analysis, including the local entities’ capital planning deliverables to the group and ongoing monitoring of the various entities’ local capital positions. This role is ideal for a quick learner that likes to problem solve and drive solutions. In this role you will obtain insights into various reporting bases (IFRS, Solvency II, U.S. Statutory, Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement), lines of business, and reinsurance structures.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Transaction Onboarding & Execution

  • Lead actuarial execution workstreams for assigned reinsurance transactions during scoping, initial reporting and onboarding to BAU.
  • Understand pricing models and assumptions to create valuation analysis to support recommendations to the Chief Actuary.
  • Coordinate information across pricing, valuation, reserving, finance, and data teams to ensure readiness for reporting and settlement.
  • Maintain deal‑specific documentation, timelines, and tracking, identifying and escalating risks or gaps.

 

Valuation & Financial Reporting

  • Apply IFRS and local statutory (US STAT, BSCR) actuarial requirements to new and evolving deal structures, including estimating impact across bases and communicating impacts to leadership.
  • Prepare and review actuarial inputs, including best estimate liabilities, cash flow projections, and reserve movements to support initial valuation reporting .
  • Support implementation of new solutions into the Corporate Actuarial reporting database.
  • Document decisions and maintain consistency across reinsurance transactions.

 

Assumption Support

  • Support Assumption team to analyze pricing assumptions against current valuation view and propose a valuation best estimate.
  • Review model outputs and sensitivities, identify issues, and work with valuation teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure alignment between pricing assumptions, valuation models, and reported results for assigned transactions.

 

Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Act as the primary working‑level actuarial contact for Corporate Actuarial across Valuation, Central Reporting and Infrastructure teams on assigned transactions.
  • Prepare materials and analysis for transaction update meetings and management forums.
  • Support responses to internal governance, audit, and stakeholder inquiries related to actuarial treatment and execution.

 

Process & Team Contribution

  • Identify opportunities to improve transaction onboarding, reporting processes, and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to Corporate Actuarial initiatives related to standardization, automation, and scalability.
  • Manage and mentor team of actuarial students, providing technical guidance, constructive feedback, and support for ongoing professional development.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Fellow of a recognized actuarial organization (or near‑Fellow with demonstrated progression).
  • Experience in capital reporting, valuation, or large reinsurance transactions.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS, SII, and/or statutory (US STAT, BSCR) actuarial concepts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder communication skills.

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $179,000 - $198,000, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
