This position is responsible to collaborate with and provide strategic and operational support to the Board of Management Member for Global Specialty Insurance (GSI). It serves as a key liaison across internal and external stakeholders ensuring effective governance, strategic alignment, and execution of initiatives critical to GSI’s success and has responsibility for representing the GSI BoM Member at certain meetings or events. You will also be responsible for organizing the meetings that are to core of governance and steering for GSI.
In this role, you will gain in-depth insight into strategic and organizational topics critical to GSI including exposure and interaction with the management teams across GSI.
Please note that we are open to considering a range of experience for the role and the offer will be commensurate with the qualifications and work location of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the GSI BoM Member in all key internal and external interactions in support of decision-making across strategic and organizational topics.
- Prepare content and providing support in the preparation for corporate executive meetings (Board meetings, Reinsurance Committee meetings, etc.), external conferences, etc.
- Spearhead the management of the GSI and North America Regional Executive meetings including GSI Executive Meetings, US Regional Executive meetings and Quarterly Business Reviews. Activities include the development of agendas (in conjunction with the BoM Member), gathering, and distributing materials, helping run the meetings, capturing of minutes and capturing and tracking action points.
- Develop, implement and oversee the Quarterly Business Review process as a key management tool within GSI including interpretation and communication of budgeting decisions.
- Initiate and lead key strategic projects or participate on project teams to help drive the implementation of initiatives leading to the future success of GSI as requested.
- Advise on all internal and external communications, consulting closely with group communications, investor relations, marketing, and HR colleagues as necessary.
- Conduct research and prepare analyses on general and strategic topics which may include researching and understanding unfamiliar issues and summarizing and communicating key messages.
- Serve as advisor to GSI BoM Member on topics related to business organization and development.
- Raise time critical matters to the attention of the BoM Member and help direct or respond to time critical inquiries
Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in an insurance/reinsurance company including 3+ years of leadership experience within a matrix environment with and/or without authority
- Solid business acumen and understanding of specialty insurance, including relevant organizational issues and challenges.
- Problem solving competence, execution skills and a self-dependent working style.
- Curiosity, capability, and willingness to question status quo and to introduce fresh views into discussion and decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across stakeholder groups.
- Strong communication skills across a variety of mediums with continuous improvement mindset
- Strong executive presence and the ability to partner and influence leadership.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to understand how change will impact individuals while navigating in a complex organization.
- Demonstrated ability to grasp large complex concepts, summarize the issues, and recommend agile solutions or action plans.
- Experience with hands-on delivery of key projects
- Detail Oriented, respectfully persistent.
- Ability to initiate projects and drive delivery by working with project teams.
- A demonstrated ability to influence thinking and engage stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Expected travel 10% of the time.
The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including New York City (NYC), NY and Princeton, NJ. This role is designated for either NYC or Princeton and reflects multiple geographies. The offer will be adjusted per geography.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $182,100 - $370,600, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the higher end being more aligned with the New York City job market. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
