About Corporate Actuarial – Valuation
Corporate Actuarial produces reserving and financial metrics across IFRS 17, US Stat/Health, and Solvency II. The team delivers accurate, forward‑looking financial information that supports senior management, Finance, ERM, Pricing, auditors, and regulators. Results from valuation drive thought leadership and informed decision‑making across the organization.
The Role
This role will be a member of the Living Benefits (LB) Valuation team, which handles Individual Disability (IDI) and Long Term Care (LTC) reporting.
The role’s primary responsibility is to manage day to day IDI valuation activities across IFRS 17, US Statutory (Health), and Solvency II. This role also provides opportunities to lead ad-hoc projects from other line of business within the valuation team.
Responsibilities
- Valuation and Financial reporting
- Support actuarial students in preparing IDI valuation results and deliverables across all reporting frameworks
- Support actuarial students in enhancing and improving the existing valuation process to be faster and more efficient.
- Manage IDI‑specific quarterly and annual closing process ensuring a robust control and evidence documentation process is in place.
- IDI Assumptions & Insight.
- Develop and document valuation assumption updates, ensuring alignment with Pricing/ERM and assumption governance.
- Annual sensitivities and stress tests and support deeper insights and analysis of MARCs IDI business.
- Modeling & Process Governance
- Strengthen model/process controls: input validation, automated checks, and reproducible workflows.
- Ensure IDI model/process changes support Best Estimate reporting, statutory requirements, and emerging deal structures.
- Planning, Forecasting & Strategic Support
- Prepare IDI projections for reforecasts, annual plan, ORSA‑aligned scenarios, stress testing, and capital analysis.
- Partner with Pricing and other Corporate Actuarial colleagues on onboarding new IDI deals into valuation, if applicable.
- Stakeholder Partnership
- Collaborate with Finance, Model development, ERM, Claims, and Data teams.
- Communicate results to both actuaries and non-actuaries, and work collaboratively across Munich Re
- Assist external reviewers (e.g., auditors)
