Are you ready for a new challenge? We are looking to hire an Actuarial Manager to lead a pricing team for Insurance Programs at MRS-NA. This individual will support profitable growth across existing and new programs in support of Munich Re Group’s Ambition 2030.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the business unit as a trusted advisor to drive pricing excellence for Insurance Programs.
- Manage a team of 2 actuaries, oversee their daily work, assign/delegate/peer-review analyses and projects to further develop their pricing knowledge. Be a mentor and advocate for their advancement at Munich Re.
- Conduct pricing analyses, including the development of rates, ultimate loss projections, trend studies, and communication of results. Influence stakeholders based on results of analyses.
- Lead the development and update of Actuarial models and databases through formula development, research on methodologies, and collaboration with technical teams.
- Support the DOI state filing process by developing/revising rating plans, conducting competitive analyses, providing actuarial filing support and responding to objections.
- Participate on projects to enhance result monitoring, pricing and portfolio management that will assist underwriters and management in understanding and steering the business. Document and communicate assumptions, results, and alternatives to actuarial staff, internal clients, and external clients.
- Strong understanding and ability to discuss and apply the use of existing & new actuarial concepts/techniques involving exposure adjustments, trend, loss development, exposure rating, et al with minimal assistance/guidance.
- Provide actuarial insight and expertise on actuarial assumptions and parameters as participant or lead on a Market Research Analysis and Parameters (MRAP) line of business group.
- Maintain contemporary, in-depth knowledge across all the major lines of business.
- Participate in training of others (underwriters, client managers, risk analysts, accountants and actuaries) regarding actuarial analyses and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society required. FCAS preferred.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in primary insurance pricing, with expertise in multiple major lines.
- Strong technical actuarial skills and strong knowledge and understanding of pricing analyses and rating models.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and negotiate with others and create acceptance for proposals.
- Experience with managing or mentoring staff
- Experience in use of R, Python or other statistical software in insurance pricing applications is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage conflicting priorities, complete multiple tasks, and projects
The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including Chicago (IL), New York City (NYC), Philadelphia (PA), and Princeton (NJ). The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. The offer will be adjusted per geography.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $174,200-$290,300, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the with the higher end being more aligned with the NYC job market. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
