The department Business Technology is responsible for successfully designing, building, consulting, and managing IT solutions in close cooperation with the business units and departments, and central divisions in Munich Re (Group), as well as with other IT units.

Our sub department is responsible for Munich Re’s “Big Data and Analytics Platform” and specific data and AI based solutions. As well as the successful implementation and operational transfer of specific use cases, its areas of responsibility include the underlying Azure based Big Data & Analytics Platform and the execution of consulting tasks. It also interfaces closely with our different reinsurance units globally and at group level (particularly ERGO, MEAG).

 

Your job:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing scalable and secure cloud-based architecture for a Data & AI platform, ensuring high availability, performance, and maintainability (Cloud technologies, Databricks, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Designing and optimizing cloud infrastructure (Azure) to support data storage and process ML and AI/GenAI workloads
  • Implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for efficient and automated model deployment and updates
  • Ensuring that platform architecture complies with industry standards and regulations and integrates best practices for data privacy and security
  • Working closely with development teams, business stakeholders, and other architects to ensure seamless integration of data, AI, and cloud services into the overall Munich Re application landscape
  • Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including design patterns, best practices, and cloud service configurations
  • Staying ahead of industry trends and evaluating new technologies and solutions to continuously improve the platform’s capabilities, security, and efficiency

 

Your profile

  • University degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related field
  • Several years of experience in IT architecture with focus on data solutions and AI technologies
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and familiarity with services like data lakes, cloud storage, containerization, and orchestration (Kubernetes); experience with serverless architectures is a plus
  • Deep understanding of cloud security principles, encryption, access control, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices
  • Proficiency in Python, with experience in AI/ML libraries (e.g., Hugging Face, OpenAI, LangChain)
  • Familiarity with core LLM techniques like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI databases, etc.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Fluent spoken and written business English
