The section IT Re Insurance Property & Casualty (RI P&C) delivers business value through management of IT products including execution of change projects, and delivery of agile IT product management, application development and IT operational support. The product and project portfolio of IT RI P&C covers all underwriting & pricing solutions for all Reinsurance LoB (w/o L/H) globally as well as the solutions for Claims Management.
To complement our team of recognized IT experts, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual. You will develop and grow our global application landscape together with the business in a highly changing IT landscape. You will deliver our claims management systems and the growing portfolio of supporting systems for underwriting business units.
Your field of activities will be varied: the role encompasses not only solution design and application development, but also active representation of your applications in our global Architecture Community. This position will be located in Munich.
Your Job
- Architectural Ownership: Defined and governed conceptual architectures, encompassing both Solution Architecture (Application and Data Architecture) and Infrastructure Architecture, with a strong emphasis on business and application layers.
- Technical Leadership: Led cross-functional software development teams, translating complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions in close collaboration with domain experts and stakeholders.
- Strategic Roadmapping: Developed and managed project-level Architecture Roadmaps, aligning technology evolution with long-term business and IT strategies.
- Target Architecture Definition: Articulated and communicated Target Solution Architectures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Provided architectural consulting across product lifecycles—from requirements through to delivery.
- Quality & Compliance Advocacy: Championed non-functional requirements such as robustness, performance, maintainability, and evolvability, while ensuring compliance with IT security and regulatory standards.
- Agile Feature Management: Defined features and evaluated dependencies within agile workflows. Actively participated in feature scoping, refinement, and solution design processes.
- Technical Debt Management: Oversaw the identification, documentation, and mitigation of technical debt, especially in areas related to security and compliance.
- Delivery Accountability: Accountable for end-to-end delivery of technology solutions—from design and development to testing and implementation—while leveraging existing architectural standards and reporting progress against delivery commitments.
Your Profile
- Educational Background: University degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Technical Leadership & Software Development: Extensive hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle, having served as both developer and architect in complex, enterprise-grade environments.
- Architecture Expertise: Proven track record in large-scale application and data architecture design, with a strategic mindset and practical implementation experience. Delivered architecture planning in alignment with business goals and IT governance.
- Domain Expertise: Strong and in-depth knowledge of Claims processes and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) / Managing General Agent (MGA) business operations, enabling the design of solutions aligned with insurance and financial services workflows.
- Analytical & Conceptual Strengths: Strong problem-solving capabilities and conceptual thinking, demonstrated through leadership roles (e.g., Lead Designer, Solution Architect) in major business application development initiatives.
- Cloud & Platform Technologies:
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, .NET architectures, web-based systems, and service-oriented architectures (SOA).
- Skilled in modern DevOps and cloud-native technologies, including Azure DevOps and distributed/cloud-based architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Appian platform for low-code/no-code enterprise solutions.
- Big Data knowledge, including experience with data processing frameworks and architectures for handling large-scale datasets.
- Ability to assess and balance architectural trade-offs under business and financial constraints.
- Collaboration & Consulting: Strong consulting mindset and a collaborative approach. Committed to fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and knowledge sharing.
- Communication Skills: Fluent in German and English (spoken and written). Adept at communicating technical decisions, trade-offs, and architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Agile & Regulatory Experience: Experienced in agile methodologies from an architectural standpoint, with a solid understanding of operating within highly regulated IT environments.
