The Regulatory Office Manager, supports the Head of Legal and Compliance and the Board of Management in an appropriate and effective dialogue with Regulators with regard to both, inquiries by the Regulator ("incoming communication") and notifications by Great Lakes ("outgoing communication"), irrespective of the means of communication or meeting formats.

 

Your Job

 

Support the Head of Legal & Compliance and the Board of Management in communicating with Regulators, in particular:

 

  • Track, coordinate and collate communications with Regulators in accordance with the established processes for incoming and outgoing regulatory communication ("communication processes");
  • Maintain an IT infrastructure for the communication processes;
  • Administer the communication process, incl. registering (i.e., documenting) and tracking of regulatory communications as well as management reporting;
  • Advise the Board of Management, stakeholders and functional owners on the best communication strategy and approach for incoming regulatory requests and outgoing notifications;
  • Coordinate the collection of information and drafting of the response to an inquiry from a Regulator (on request for complex regulatory matters that have more than one functional owner and / or affect more than one division of the Board of Management);
  • Perform a comprehensive legal and quality review of the draft communication on request and for complex matters only;
  • Perform a final review of non-recurring communication addressed to a Regulator before final sign-off by the functional owner and / or the responsible member of the Board of Management;
  • Collect signatures for and sending of regulatory communications;
  • Provide updates to the Board of Management and stakeholders about new regulatory communications and their status, including regular and ad hoc reporting;
  • Lead the preparation of on-site visits by regulatory authorities in Munich and support preparation of such visits in branch offices; and
  • Support the Head of Legal & Compliance in fulfilling his/her mandates.

 


Your Profile

 

  • Above-average legal qualification (German state examination preferentially with distinctions or UK/US equivalent);
  • Thought leader;
  • Proven knowledge of the primary insurance regulatory environment;
  • Interest in the wider business environment and technical issues;
  • Analytical, pragmatic thinker and solution orientated;
  • Ability to work in large complex projects;
  • Ability to communicate complex issues in an easily understandable manner;
  • Exceptional communication and team working skills;
  • High degree of personal commitment and intercultural competence;
  • Willingness for regular business trips, in particular to GLISE’s London branch; and
  • Fluent in German and English.
