Reinsurance Controlling consolidates all controlling tasks and related reporting for the reinsurance business segment.  In this capacity it should act as a trusted and impartial advisor to management, providing fair and insightful analysis of the business. The department Global IT Controlling (RIC1.2 is responsible for planning and monitoring (budget-, staff and mid-term planning) and the accounting and allocation of the reinsurance group’s global IT RUN expenses (internal and external). In this capacity, the department has to work closely with the IT Finance functions in ERGO to accommodate the global resp. group wide set up of the IT organization and ensure a consistent group wide view on IT expenses. Besides, the department is in charge of planning and monitoring of the reinsurance group’s investments (including IT Transform / project portfolio).

 

YOUR JOB

  • Managing and developing a global team consisting of 4 sections and in total a team of  approx. 30 FTE of which approx. 10 FTE are located in the IO
  • Operational responsibility and ownership of all IT planning and forecasting processes
  • Operational responsibility and ownership of all accounting and closing processes for the reinsurance IT SSOs
  • Constant improvement of underlying processes and tools around forecasting, benchmarking, business cases and budget management
  • Assessment of the development of expenses towards the IT senior management and other stakeholders (e.g. CFO departments, board of management) in standard reports and ad-hoc analyses and communication of results to CIO and IT senior management in close cooperation with the ERGO IT finance team
  • Early identification and analysis of trends and developments, as well as deriving appropriate recommendations to support the decision making of senior executives
  • Assessment of investment/business cases in the reinsurance group in IT but as well for Non-IT
  • Management of and participation in different IT internal development projects
  • As an Executive Manager, supporting the wider strategy and objectives of the Central Division RIC. Management of and participation in different IT internal development projects
  • Acting as “IT-CFO” and partner with IT-Senior Management as well as with the respective members of the Board of Management

YOUR PROFILE

  • University degree in an economics discipline or information technologies
  • Sound operational knowledge and very good knowledge of the management systems in use at Munich Re (especially SAP-CO and Global Template) and accounting in an insurance company (IFRS, HGB, Solvency II)
  • Profound knowledge of IT in financial industries/insurance as a strong plus
  • High systems and data affinity, with the rigor and attention to detail needed to deliver reliable and timely information while respecting project budgets
  • Strong leadership experience in leading (global) teams, preferably in different regions, functions and entities. Proven track record of building high performing international teams as well as motivating and empowering people
  • Very highly developed analytical and conceptual skills
  • Highly client- and service-oriented
  • High level of commitment, readiness to accept new ideas and capacity for innovation
