The Central & Southeast Europe division is responsible for the management and development of Munich Re’s overall non-life portfolio (Underwriting and Client Management for the following countries France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Central Europe and Southeastern Europe.
The setup of the division is truly international, with underwriting and client management colleagues spread around our offices in Munich, Paris and Milan. Our aim with our clients is ambitious: we want to be most relevant partner for risk & change. To get there, a culture of result accountability, business development ambition, innovation and collaboration with the wider Munich Re community is key.
We are seeking an strong leader to take the helm of our branch office in Milan, driving growth and underwriting excellence in a dynamic and culturally diverse environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of strategic leadership, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to adapt quickly to the market environment. Excellent communication and intercultural skills are a must, as is the ability to inspire and build high-performing teams. You should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, a deep understanding of local and global market trends, and the ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders within our Munich Re Group.

YOUR JOB
- Managing and further expanding the business of MR Italy (MRI)
- Managing existing business in line with the quality and profitability expectations of Munich Re
- Advancing and/or enhancing the strategy of MRI to pursue additional profitable business opportunities
- Ensuring that the client management and underwriting setup best serves the business and size support functions accordingly
- Ensuring MRI to be the most sought-after reinsurance employer in Italy for existing and new staff
- Leading MRI and being a role-model for coaching and developing staff incl. career paths
- Developing the MRI culture further in line with the divisional culture
- Actively engaging with and contributing to the divisional Executive Team
- Ensuring efficient organisation of the Branch office and close cooperation between MRI and all relevant stakeholders and departments in Munich Re Group
- Maintain productive relationships with regulatory and administrative bodies to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
YOUR PROFILE
- A strong leader with intercultural leadership experience either as head of an international organisation or as a manager of managers
- A people-focused personality that is able to develop and maintain trustful and valued relationships with clients and staff
- In-depth experience in operating or managing reinsurance activities, ideally with previous client management and underwriting experiences.
- The ability and interest to develop know-how in new business areas
- Proven communication and intercultural skills
- Fluent Italian (or the ability to become fluent very quickly) and English
- Ability and willingness to take over position rapidly
