The CoC Best Estimates and Pricing is part of the actuarial and pricing department within LH1 MUC, which is responsible for pricing governance, trad. R/I pricing and business development for all Life and Health Reinsurance business in Continental Europe (w/o Iberia, Italy, Malta) and Israel.
We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our team as a Head of CoC Best Estimates and Pricing. The position reports into the Head of Department – Chief Actuary LH1 MUC Hub.
You are responsible for driving core actuarial developments for our traditional Life and Health business to ensure future proven pricing excellence, providing a sustainable framework and tooling for customer tailored profitable pricings for Life and Health reinsurance business. This includes up to date, risk adequate assumptions, advanced pricing and monitoring standards and cutting-edge tools supporting the pricing process.
You´re thus ensuring the basis for a sustainable profitable business development and quality assurance of our reinsurance portfolio.
Your Job
- Strategy development and implementation for terms of trade incl. Best Estimates, Pricing methodology / infrastructure and Pricing governance.
- Support LH1 MUC in developing, assessing and implementing profitable and sustainable business as well as people management strategies
- Lead a team of Pricing Actuaries in delivering high quality pricing models and tools and robust best estimates. Organize operative tasks, planning resources, and providing guidance to the team regarding overarching pricing topics as well as innovation and internal marketing activities.
- Maintain and further develop as team leader a productive and positive team atmosphere and support team members in their individual development (Continuous Conversations).
- Provide guidance, offering thought leadership to internal and external stakeholders on actuarial topics, specifically regarding pricing methodology & tools, best estimate assumptions and pricing governance; enhance credibility of LH1 MUC internally and Munich Re externally
- This also includes providing support for risk assessment of new risks as well as trainings on actuarial progress and best practices
- Work cross-functionally across LH1 MUC Hub as well as with experts from central units IT, Corporate Underwriting and Valuation
- Drive as contractee agile projects and initiatives supporting our business strategy
- Further develop team culture also across the whole LH1 Munich based team and beyond into LH1
Your Profile
- Advanced university degree with actuarial qualification
- Several years of professional experience in pricing and/or valuation of Life and Health (re-)insurance business, preferably across multiple markets in Europe
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to comprehend complex actuarial issues and explain to others
- Flexibility and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new ideas and able to propose innovative ideas
- Very high level of motivation paired with the capacity to take responsibility, to work independently and with an entrepreneurial attitude
- Ideally team leadership and management experience; experience in project management and/or team coordination required
- A multicultural mindset with excellent people, change and conflict management skills, and strong emotional intelligence.
- Very good written and spoken German and English
