Loss Control Engineering supports underwriting excellence and provides technical support in the assessment of risks for all MR business units worldwide. This service includes the analysis of risks based on external reports, own risk inspections and consultancy for risk improvement.
Being part of LCE, the section "LCE NE/IRP" comprises two parts that provide comprehensive services for various clients within the Munich Re Group.
Given the fundamental change of the energy landscape worldwide, the New Energy (NE) part supports underwriting units groupwide with initiatives, e.g. technology and market analyses, forecasts on the development of leading technologies in different regions, the development of new insurance covers and concrete improvements in technical underwriting.
The Infrastructure Risk Profiler (IRP - https://www.munichre.com/irp) part provides a Munich Re inhouse consultancy service to assess the various risks of investments in Alternative Assets, mainly infrastructure (e.g. windfarms, solar parks, trains, data centre, fibre networks, etc.) and forestry. The IRP service includes the analysis of technical, operational, environmental, climate-/natural-hazard-related, and financial risks, as well as an analysis of the insurance program and ESG relevant criteria.
To achieve a comprehensive, holistic and comparable result for different types of investments, the IPR team works in close cooperation with other Munich Re experts and external partners. The coordination of all involved parties including the client/asset manager is key.
To realize the business potential for this product, we are looking for a dedicated senior consultant/ senior project manager on a permanent basis.
Your Job:
- Risk assessments of infrastructure investments for equity and debt transactions
- Performing comprehensive technical analyses and understand financial implications for investments during all project phases focusing on relevant parameter
- Analyse and evaluate the risks landscape based on available documents and information generated by exchange with the asset operator or owner
- Support and organise the project team on various equity and debt investment including management of internal clients and external consultants
- Support the initial investment process as well as the asset management of MR/MEAG asset portfolio
- Responsible for the organization/coordination of the due diligence process/team and timely delivery of the results including follow up discussions with stakeholders.
- Contracting, steering, and performing quality assurance of external consultancy services
- Finding and consolidating asset-relevant MR Group internal expertise
- Planning and executing site visits to assess the exposure, including discussions with management/project teams and buy-side consultants
- Generating findings and reports, and conducting quality assurance and presentations
- Presenting the findings and discussing / defending the assessment content against the various experts along the decision making tree
- Develop possible structural changes and recommendations supporting investment decisions
Your Profil:
- University degree in a field of engineering or science
- Strong experience in infrastructure related engineering topics and technologies
- Willingness to work on diverse business activities related to infrastructure technology, also beyond personal experience
- Experience in project finance for infrastructure projects are of benefit
- Excellent project management skills and experience in matrix project organization
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to think and plan strategically
- Readiness to take up responsibility for the project organisation and high quality performance of the IRP team
- Passion to work on constantly changing topics (e.g. helicopter fleet in Spain, data center in Germany, sea-port in California, windfarm in Sweden)
- High degree of independence, self-motivation and service orientation
- Strong written and verbal skills, ability to present complex findings in a concise, clear form
- Business-fluent in English, good command of German
- Ability to fit in and work in a team
