Munich Re Markets is a leading provider of reinsurance solutions for the global savings, retirement and investment business. We reinsure and manage financial guarantees, policyholder behavior and biometric risks.

The Modeling team is responsible for best estimate assumptions and cash flow models used for Solvency II, local GAAP and IFRS valuation. To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a Junior Quantitative Specialist with focus on financial and actuarial mathematical modeling. In this role, you will be based in Munich and collaborate with underwriting teams in Europe, Asia and North America.

Your Job

  • Development of models for savings & retirement reinsurance transactions and financial derivatives, with a focus on coding and testing of the business logic
  • Management of the in-force book: Pricing of new business tranches, determination of credit support amounts and settlements for reinsurance treaties
  • Collaboration on new reinsurance transactions in an interdisciplinary environment with the structuring, trading, and reporting teams
  • First-level analysis of calculation results, explanation to internal stakeholders and clients

Your Profile

  • Excellent university degree in a quantitative subject (insurance/financial mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering)
  • Proficiency with financial derivatives and their mathematical valuation models
  • Willingness to develop skills in life insurance and actuarial models
  • Track record in programming (Java is a plus)
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Hands-on mindset and commitment to deliver excellence
  • Strong analytical, technical and conceptual skills
  • Languages: Fluent in business English and German
