As a specialty provider of primary insurance services Great Lakes Insurance SE (GLISE) with its branches in the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Italy and Ireland and its subsidiary in the UK, is an integral part of Munich Re Group and an important enabler for Specialty Insurance Business (GSI - Global Specialty Insurance) closely connected to Munich Re’s reinsurance core business.
Your job
- To be responsible for the technical review of tax returns in Germany and Europe for insurance tax and fire protection taxes
- Serve as the first point of contact between Great Lakes’ and internal business units on IPT matters across different jurisdictions, providing advice and guidance on application and assessment
- Participation and coordination of insurance tax audits across Europe.
- Oversee and direct the management and control of external service providers
- Assist in the implementation of regulatory or efficiency driven transformation programs .
- To coordinate and oversee all IPT tax compliance and associated reporting processes for Great Lakes (including IPT/FBL), especially those that are outsourced to and managed by GTax, MRUKS and external consultants
- Contribute to the enforcement of the Great Lakes Tax Compliance Policy on behalf of the CFO
- Active contribution in the assessment of systems and architecture for Great Lakes business which has an impact to capabilities around IPT assessment and data capture.
- Manage the different tax consultants and external service companies providing tax related services to Great Lakes globally
- Continuous review and optimisation of processes, structures and deal flows in order to find the best solution from an overall MRe Group perspective
- Adapt, implement and execute GTax mandate and guidelines in collaboration with all Great Lakes entities
Your profile
- University degree in Law, Finance or Economics
- Recognized tax or accounting qualification (Steuerberater, ACCA/CIMA etc.)
- At least 5 years of post-qualification experience
- Sound knowledge of Corporation Tax, IPT (world-wide)
- Sound understanding of IFRS and insights into the different local GA A P requirements with respect to tax Knowledge of Group Reporting processes
- Experience in working and communicating with international tax authorities
- Excellent command of English both written and orally
- Self-motivated, reliable and confident
- Focused on ‘owning the process’ and flexible
- Output and result orientation
