Group Investment Management Division (GIM)

The Group Investment Management (GIM) division is responsible for managing the proprietary Munich Re and ERGO investment portfolio of around €250bn.

Within GIM, GIM2.1.1 Investment Steering PI Life, is responsible for the efficient implementation of the strategic and tactical asset allocation for five legal entities of the domestic primary life insurance segment. In addition, the team steers and controls limits and P/L as well as performs risk management tasks for the respective legal entities. Furthermore, within GIM2 the team fulfills cross-functional tasks between the investment steering units for reinsurance, primary P/C and international business of Munich Re and ERGO.

 

YOUR JOB

  • Take responsibility and ensure operational excellence, both for determination and ongoing review of the asset-liability management framework for domestic PI Life entities as well as for the investment steering of each PI Life entity (holistic legal entity view
  • Strategic development of ALM and investment steering activities, considering internal and external stakeholders’ as well as policyholders’ interests
  • Take responsibility for the result steering (IFRS, Local GAAP) and risk management both for legal entity view as well as respective single investment portfolios
  • Prepare mandates and investment guidelines to asset managers and thus take responsibility for the implementation of SAA / TAA allocation impulses with regard to legal entities requirements (e.g., accounting, supervisory, tax)
  • Ensure a constructive collaboration with legal entities’ and group’s stakeholder regarding ALM and investment steering
  • Drive improvement and innovation for the processes between the different GIM units as well as between GIM and group units, MEAG and the respective legal entities

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

  • Successfully completed university degree in mathematics, physics, business administration or economics. Additional qualification (CFA, Actuary, MBA or other) is desirable.
  • Several years of professional experience in asset allocation, ideally in an re- or primary insurance company or an insurance-related asset manager
  • Thorough understanding of life insurance business models and their asset-liability management
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting standards, supervisory laws and relevant taxation aspects
  • Good skills for a broad range of capital market instruments
  • Identification with the GIM culture and values as well as high social competence ensuring smooth interaction with department’s interfaces
  • Good command of written and spoken German and English language
