Our division has the global responsibility for direct credit risk within Munich RE Group being the “One-Stop Shop” solution provider and first port of call for all top-notch Financial Institutions in their core activities (markets, products, asset classes) for their capacity and capital management needs. Our solutions cover single risk and plain-vanilla portfolio solutions in our Global Credit Solutions team as well as highly structured portfolio solutions in our Structured Portfolio Solutions team.
The active development and implementation of innovative or new risk transfer solutions often is driven by regulatory developments, new clients or the expansion of our existing solutions to new products, markets, or regions. This expansion is key for our future profitable growth. Therefore, we are building up a group of dedicated senior experts/specialists for Structuring, Legal, Modelling & Project Management) following up on suitable opportunities, and developing scalable solutions for the respective business owners. This will also include a pilot phase with several successful transactions.
The advertised position is for a quantitative structurer/ credit modeler focused on developing and/ or applying credit models (incl. pricing) for plain-vanilla to highly structured portfolio solutions but also complex single risk solutions requiring credit/ derivative modelling expertise.
Your tasks:
- Responsible for the further development of credit/ pricing models for novel products/ solutions, which require new or significant adjustments of existing models as integral part of the development of new solutions for our clients
- Support of the design and development of client solutions in order to optimize the structure (e.g., risk-return, regulatory capital relief, etc.) for both, Munich Re and the client
- Support of underwriting of transactions that require credit modelling/actuarial pricing skills as part of deal teams as required (e.g., complex derivatives solutions for our newly developed CVA business)
- Support in the integration of new products and associated pricing, monitoring and reporting requirements into the IT infrastructure
- Staying up to date with relevant regulatory developments, representing Munich Re at conferences and/or publishing of scientific papers with the focus on mathematical topics
Your profile:
- Master’s Degree in mathematics, physics or any other natural science
- Several years of relevant modelling experience in credit and ideally derivatives markets (CVA/XVA)
- Several years of professional experience in credit portfolio or credit risk-management, credit analysis in the banking sector or rating agencies desirable.
- Experience in structuring and modelling loan portfolios and cashflow waterfall structures, respectively experience in structured credit products like ABS, CLO, RMBS would be highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of the regulation of international banks, especially with regard to the capital relief effect of structured credit portfolio transactions (based on Basel III CRR framework) is highly desirable
- Superior analytical skills in conjunction with a solution orientation along with a willingness and ability to justify decisions in a clear and comprehensible manner
- Solid relevant IT/ programming skills (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, databases/SQL/Power BI) for developing of modelling/ pricing and reporting infrastructure
- Self-starting personality with project lead experience.
- Confident appearance and high social competence towards colleagues, customers and other MR units
- Team spirit, initiative, ability to convince and lead people
- Business fluent in English; knowledge of another major European language is desirable but not mandatory.
