Data & Analytics (DAA1) is a division that drives and coordinates data analytics & AI projects across Munich Re. Our mission is to support Munich Re’s core business and unlock new business opportunities through data, talent, and technology.
The AI department (DAA1.2) leads AI initiatives within Data & Analytics, enabling and supporting business and central functions in AI and GenAI while developing and implementing AI tools and platforms.
To accelerate our journey toward data-driven decision-making, we are looking for an experienced AI expert with a passion for data, strong product thinking, and an entrepreneurial mindset to tackle a variety of exciting challenges in the (re)insurance space.
Your Job
- Develop and scale our internal NLP & GenAI platform to enable AI-driven solutions across business units
- Build AI capabilities and infrastructure to ensure efficient use of GenAI, NLP, and ML
- Collaborate closely with business units (e.g., Underwriting) to develop AI-powered applications and maximize business impact
- Contribute to the strategic direction of our AI initiatives by leveraging quantitative analysis, market research, and industry trends to shape long-term AI capabilities and business impact.
- Communicate complex AI concepts and strategic insights effectively across various stakeholder levels, tailoring messages to different audiences and supporting decision-making through well-structured narratives and visual storytelling.
- Ensure technical excellence and scalability of our AI solutions
Your Profile
- University degree (Master’s or higher) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; specialization in NLP or AI is a plus.
- Extensive theoretical and practical expertise in GenAI and deep learning techniques, particularly in NLP. Strong knowledge of related technologies, software, and the latest developments in models, libraries, and frameworks.
- Several years of hands-on experience in AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science in a professional setting, ideally with a focus on NLP or GenAI.
- Proficiency in ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), NLP technologies, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Experience with cloud platforms and AI infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes, MLOps).
- Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex AI concepts to diverse stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams, particularly in business-driven environments.
- Experience in the insurance, risk management, or financial services industry is a plus.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written) and willing to travel as needed.
