The Specialty Lines Claims Team is responsible for the worldwide management of Marine, Aviation, Contingency and Agriculture Claims across Munich Re’s Reinsurance, Large Single Risk as well as Direct business. We are an international team of Claims Managers and Claims Consultants, based in Munich.
This is an unique opportunity for a multi-disciplined Marine Expert who is able to manage complex Marine losses and has the willingness to contribute to the profitability and growth of the business by pro-active portfolio-directed claims management service. You will engage with clients, brokers and experts globally and will closely collaborate cross functionally with Underwriting, Client management and other stakeholders within the Group.
Your Job
- Efficiently manage Marine claims arising out of primary insurance and reinsurance agreements (direct, fac, TTY) of varying severity from first advice of loss to ultimate settlement
- Identify claims that have major impact, conduct factual analysis, detailed review, reserve setting, and decide upon MR's ultimate liability to pay. Accountable for implementing the right claims strategy for resolution of the claims
- Manage the claims portfolio via portfolio management approach utilizing claims reporting tools available, identifying key areas of focus and generating insights
- Provide timely reporting and insights to benefit stakeholders in managing our business
- Contribute to studies and analysis concerning emerging risks, legal and regulatory developments, and industry trends
- Conduct cedent claims reviews and internal claims reviews
- Participate in regional and global projects
- Embrace the use of technology and relevant IT tools to increase effectiveness of your own work and of the team
Your Profile
- Relevant Claims or Underwriting experience in Marine Reinsurance or Marine Primary Insurance
- Strong communication skills in English and German required
- Legal and/or shipping background is a plus
- Strong client focus and pragmatic problem solver
- Entrepreneurial approach, creative mind-set
- Confidence and ability to interact with senior representatives of clients and partners
- Cross-cultural awareness and collaborative working style
- Willingness to travel
