Responsibilities include assessing accumulation potentials, maintaining portfolio transparency, developing underwriting standards, risk models, technology solutions and services. The understanding and quantification of cyber exposures is essential for our business and our team provides up-to-date methods and frameworks which enables the operational units to underwrite cyber risks in an effective and efficient way.

We are looking for a Head of the Cyber Underwriting Standards & Support team, whose responsibilities will be as follows:

 

Your Job:

  • Management of the team: guiding, motivating and developing a dedicated team of experts in a dynamic environment
  • Monitoring market trends and their strategic effect; improving the Munich Re underwriting strategy in close cooperation with the business units
  • Defining the framework for excellent underwriting of single cyber risks as well as portfolios of risks
  • Making sure processes and tools are supportive for effective and efficient underwriting
  • Identifying critical exposures and define underwriting methods that allow for proper risk assessment
  • Implementing an effective cyber threat intelligence function
  • Center of Competence for relevant legal questions in cyber underwriting
  • Setting underwriting guidelines for cyber risks
  • Setting up initiatives to improve underwriting quality in the business units
  • Quality assurance in cyber underwriting (i.e. reviews, new products, referrals) in cooperation with the relevant CU departments
  • Representing Munich Re on cyber underwriting issues (e.g. at customer and market events)
  • Coordinate adequate communication measures appropriate for various target groups
  • Supporting CU management in implementing strategies and objectives

 

Your Profile:

  • University degree in relevant field, or equivalent qualification with several years of professional experience
  • At least five years’ relevant professional experience in Cyber Underwriting
  • Knowledge of specific issues with respect to the insurance of cyber risks
  • Ownership, good balance between hunger for business and risk awareness
  • Enjoy working with innovative questions in a very dynamic and challenging environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire a team of experts, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment; management experience in an international environment would be an asset
  • High degree of service orientation
  • Ability to represent Munich Re
  • Assertiveness and excellent presentation skills
  • Methodological, didactic and inter-cultural competence, conflict-solving skills
  • Good networking skills
  • Very good written and spoken English
