Senior Property & Engineering Underwriter (m/f/d*)

We are currently looking for a Senior Property & Engineering Underwriter to be based in Milan, Italy, on a full-time basis, reporting to the Head of Property & Engineering, Italy.

In this role, you will contribute to the growth of Munich Re Specialty's Property & Engineering business in Italy by developing profitable business opportunities, strengthening broker and client relationships, and delivering underwriting excellence. You will play a key role in shaping our market presence while working closely with colleagues across our international network.

Responsibilities:

• Support the continued growth and development of Munich Re Specialty's Property & Engineering business in Italy.
• Execute underwriting strategies aligned with regional and global business objectives.
• Identify, develop and secure profitable business opportunities while strengthening Munich Re's presence in the Italian market.
• Underwrite Property & Engineering risks and actively manage portfolio performance to ensure profitability, underwriting discipline and data quality.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients and distribution partners to drive sustainable growth.
• Monitor market trends, emerging risks and competitor activity to support underwriting decisions and business strategy.
• Collaborate with underwriting and cross-functional teams across claims, legal, compliance and finance, contributing to knowledge sharing and strategic initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Property & Engineering underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of the Italian insurance market, including brokers, MGAs and other distribution partners.
• Proven track record of originating, underwriting and growing profitable Property & Engineering business.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to develop tailored solutions for complex client needs and identify new market opportunities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build long-term business relationships.
• Fluency in Italian and English, with experience working in international and cross-cultural environments and a willingness to travel when required.
• University degree and/or relevant professional qualification, combined with strong leadership and collaboration capabilities.
