Accounts Payable & Receivable Technician (m/f/d*)
We are currently looking for an Accounts Payable & Receivable Technician to be based in Milan on a full-time basis, reporting into the Finance Accounts Receivable & Payable Manager.
In this role, you will support the accurate processing and accounting of operational and insurance technical transactions across the Italian and European business. Working closely with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders, you will help ensure payments, receivables and cash movements are processed efficiently while contributing to a strong control environment and continuous improvement of finance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing and accounting of operational and insurance technical transactions for the Italian and European business, including the correct recording of cash movements across the relevant accounts.
- Process and record premium, claims and commission payments and receipts, as well as other insurance technical cash movements.
- Process operational payments and receipts, including supplier invoices and employee expenses, working closely with the business, suppliers and employees.
- Investigate queries, discrepancies and outstanding items, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
- Support key balance sheet controls and reconciliations, ensuring records are complete and accurate.
- Upload bank statements and clear open bank items in the general ledger.
- Support the annual audit by preparing documentation, providing workings and participating in process walkthroughs, while maintaining accurate KPI reporting.
- Document processes effectively, manage tasks within agreed timelines and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement, while providing cover across the team when required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience or knowledge of the end-to-end payments and receivables process, supported by a relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of payment processing, reconciliations and general ledger activities within a finance environment.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish or German, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong planning and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and deliver results under pressure.
- A collaborative, flexible and customer-focused approach, with a proactive mindset and willingness to share knowledge across the team.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence using Microsoft 365; experience with SAP General Ledger, Websure or Power BI would be an advantage.
