Description: 

Munich Re Madrid is responsible for Reinsurance Non-Life technical accounting and claims accounting for Iberia, Latin America, Caribbean and Italy. We are looking for a flexible and highly motivated Accountant in this demanding, dynamic and international setting, contributing with expertise and engagement in the growing multicultural department.

Your Job:

  • Assume responsibility for Non-Life Reinsurance Accounting for a specific group of regional clients (insurance companies and reinsurance brokers).
  • Verify reinsurance statements of account from our clients based on the terms and conditions of the wording and by checking specific calculations.
  • Process the statements of account in our SAP FS-RI systems, including the use of increasing automation tools.
  • Arrange for payments, request outstanding balances from our clients and reconcile account items.
  • Ensure data quality and perform quality checks at contract level. Ensure the quality of data for the Italian portfolio’s annual closing
  • Frequent contact with our clients to maintain and strengthen the relationship with a solution-oriented, efficient and client centric approach. Clarification, dunning and follow-up on accounts, conditions and payments will be needed.
  • Close cooperation and collaboration with the Business Units (Underwriters, Client Managers, Facultative Underwriting Assistants) and the Reinsurance Accounting International Organization.
  • Analyze and present reinsurance and accounting matters to various stakeholders.
  • Participate in challenging projects and working groups globally if applicable.

Your profile: 

  • Degree in administration, finance, economics or business sciences; recent graduates or individuals with less experience are also welcome.
  • Knowledge of Accounting, preferably also of Insurance and/or Reinsurance.
  • Expertise in MS-Office, particularly Excel, and preferably in SAP tools.
  • Analytical skills and accuracy in dealing with figures.
  • Self-confident approach combined with a high degree of dedication to working effectively and independently, willing to face new responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills, high degree of intercultural competence and team spirit.
  • Language knowledge of Spanish and English (written and spoken). Italian is highly valued.
  • Being prepared to evolve into the role of Client Accountant by expanding the knowledge in the claims area and performing tasks such as review of claims notifications, verifying calculations based on the reinsurance conditions and processing the claims in our systems in close cooperation with Claims Management department.
