Junior Renewable Energy Underwriter, Spain

 

Munich Re Specialty was formed as a stand-alone division in 2023, and brings together the wider Munich Re group’s primary specialty business units. Complementing an already strong presence in the UK and the US, Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets (MRSGM) has been tasked with executing a wider plan to build a broader European footprint. This work will start in Spain, expanding on Munich Re Specialty’s existing business in the UK, Ireland and Germany.

 

In order to successfully establish and profitably grow our Renewable Energy business in the Spanish market, we are looking for a Junior Renewable Energy UW, Spain to join our team.

 

We are searching for an exceptional individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills. Ideally, our successful candidate has experience in the renewable energy sector, whether in developers & power producers, manufacturers or technical engineering and consulting services firms. Experience in the insurance sector will also be viewed positively (underwriting, loss control engineering or claims).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Renewable Energy team with day-to-day operations and underwriting responsibilities, including conducting risk research and exposure analysis, managing documentation and file processing, reviewing policy terms and conditions, and assisting with commercial activities and negotiations.
  • Participate in the underwriting process for Renewable Energy insurance, assessing risks and determining appropriate coverage and pricing.
  • Monitor and follow up on portfolio renewals and ensure all related documentation is properly managed and completed.
  • Support the preparation of insurance proposals, as well as various documents, marketing materials, and sales presentations.
  • Help to organize and manage documentation to ensure completeness and accurate processing within our systems.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company guidelines related to Renewable Energy underwriting.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Technical knowledge with professional experience in Renewable Energy Engineering.
  • Ownership and proactive approach.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good people skills with the ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a strong commitment to the company’s corporate mission.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Some experience working within the insurance sector is a plus.
  • Good written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Professional experience in a Renewable Energy company (developers, manufacturers, operators,  engineering/consulting/technical services firms) or/and in a Renewable Energy primary insurer (underwriting/loss control engineering/claims)
  • University degree and/or relevant professional qualification
