Introduction
The Chief of Staff will play a central role in supporting LH1.2 in the successful delivery of the NazaRE transformation and the continued evolution of its governance model. Working closely with the Head of LH1.2 and the LH1.2 Management Team, the role will help translate strategic priorities into execution, ensure alignment across initiatives and business units, and establish the governance discipline required to drive sustainable organizational change. The role will also promote rigorous follow-through on strategic decisions, commitments and action plans, ensuring that priorities remain visible, progress is monitored, and obstacles are addressed in a timely manner. As a trusted partner to the leadership team, the Chief of Staff will help LH1.2 maintain focus on its strategic objectives while navigating a complex and evolving business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Transformation
- Strategic alignment and focus: Works closely with the LH1.2 Management Team to focus discussions and agendas on strategic priorities. Facilitates the strategic planning annual cycle, supporting the leadership team in defining annual objectives and KPIs aligned with LH1.2 and Group ambition.
- Monitoring & removal of blockers: Establishes a rigorous OKR tracking system and coordinates regular status meetings. Helps identify and remove obstacles that could delay execution, including pending decisions or the need to facilitate interaction across units.
- End-to-end view of the strategy: Supports the ML2 in maintaining a comprehensive, up-to-date view of LH1.2's strategy and business activities, ensuring alignment across initiatives, coherence of execution, and consistency with Ambition 2030.
- Driving the NazaRE transformation: Oversees that transformational projects are executed in line with what was agreed in Project NazaRE, applying a change management lens to unit-wide initiatives.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Executive Governance & Strategic Enablement: Responsible for ensuring that the LH1.2 Management Team is supported by an effective, fit-for-purpose governance set-up that enables it to perform its responsibilities in an efficient, focused and streamlined manner. This includes safeguarding that leadership discussions and decision-making remain firmly anchored in the organization's strategic priorities and long-term ambition.
The role ensures a transparent, timely and coherent flow of information within the Management Team and between the Management Team and the business units, thereby enabling high-quality decision-making and consistent alignment across the organization. The Chief of Staff supports the translation of leadership decisions into coherent execution, contributing to organizational clarity and strategic focus.
- Governance Forums and Executive Facilitation: Leads the preparation, coordination and facilitation of all key management and governance forums, including Management Team meetings, workshops and offsites. This includes defining clear agendas, ensuring decision-ready materials, and facilitating structured and outcome-oriented discussions that support alignment, prioritization and effective execution.
- Monitoring, Follow-up and Escalation: Monitors the implementation and progress of decisions and commitments agreed in management forums, ensuring systematic follow-up. The role proactively identifies and flags deviations, risks or misalignments, providing early warning to the Management Team and supporting timely corrective action to safeguard delivery against strategic objectives.
- Interface with LH1 Leadership on Strategic Topics: Acts as a key interface between the LH1.2 Management Team and the wider LH1 organization on strategic topics requiring alignment, including strategic reporting, cross-unit initiatives and LH1-wide priorities. Coordinates LH1.2's contribution to LH1 leadership requirements and helps ensure consistency and alignment of strategic messaging between hub and regional perspectives. The role promotes shared understanding of strategic direction, organizational priorities and key transformation initiatives across LH1.
Direct Support & Special Assignments
- Advisory Role and Sounding Board: Trusted confidant on sensitive matters. The Chief of Staff provides a safe environment for reflection, discussion and deliberation. Serves as a trusted advisor and sounding board to the Head of LH1.2. The role constructively challenges perspectives within the leadership team, offering alternative viewpoints.
- Special Delegated Assignments: Takes ownership of ad hoc assignments delegated by the Head of LH1.2, ranging from strategic business topics to operational, people and culture-related matters.
- Problem Solving and Ad Hoc Support: Identifies appropriate solutions, engages the relevant stakeholders and ensures swift and effective follow-up.
Communication
- Organizational Communication: The role works in close partnership with Marketing & Comms to support the design and coordination of internal communications for LH1.2, ensuring that strategic messages, such as objectives, achievements and organizational changes, are communicated clearly, consistently and in an engaging manner across all levels of the organization.
- Executive Messaging Preparation: Drafts, reviews and refines key executive communications on behalf of the Head of LH1.2 or the Management Team, including corporate announcements, achievement communications and regional reports. The role ensures accuracy, consistency and strategic alignment of messages, adapting tone and framing to the target audience to maximize clarity and impact.
Your Profile
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Actuarial Science or a related field.
- Several years of professional experience in insurance, reinsurance, consulting, strategy, transformation, project management, or a related business function.
- Strong understanding of organizational governance, strategic planning and execution of complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to coordinate and influence across different teams and levels of an organization.
- Highly analytical and structured mindset, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear recommendations and actionable plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate executive discussions, challenge constructively and build alignment among diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion, sound judgment, and a high degree of trust when handling sensitive or confidential matters.
- Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable operating in an ambiguous and evolving environment, with a strong focus on delivery and results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Italian would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to prepare clear, structured and decision-ready materials for senior stakeholders.
