Global Specialty Insurance is Munich Re´s dedicated entity for all primary Specialty Insurance lines. Within GSI, Aviation Direct is responsible for primary insurance and facultative reinsurance with a global mandate for direct aviation business (our clients are airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and leasing companies). Aviation Direct de facto acts as an insurance company in a challenging and specialized niche market.
To add to our team of recognized experts, we are currently looking for an encouraged and motivated Underwriter for our growing Airline or Aerospace and General Aviation segments. The range of activities in this position is varied and encompasses underwriting as well as managing our client and broker relationships.
Your Job
- Responsibility for underwriting the assigned portfolio, the worldwide aviation business with a focus on airlines or aerospace and general aviation
- Executing our underwriting strategy and actively generating new business
- Optimizing top and bottom-line results for assigned clients by offering the most adequate solution based on risk analyses and pricing assessments
- Client and key account management for large airlines, understanding their risk landscape and finding opportunities for new business solutions and risk management offerings, and taking a lead role in large and complex client projects
- Developing and maintaining strategic dialogue with broking houses in London as our business producers
- Managing our general aviation MGAs including developing growth strategies and driving automation initiatives
- Observing and analysing the aviation market and industry trends as well as ensuring underwriting and pricing quality and efficient business workflows
- Helping to ensure opinion leadership internally and externally, while establishing, retaining and transferring know-how in your field of responsibility and taking part in industry visits and international conferences
- Ensuring cross-line interaction and collaboration beyond our divisional unit
Your Profile
- University degree or professional insurance qualifications
- Underwriting experience in aviation with sound knowledge of the airline or aerospace and general aviation underwriting segments
- Proficiency in risk assessment, pricing and wording of (primary) insurance contracts
- Strong negotiating skills and proven track record in managing client relationships
- Genuinely collaborative, team-oriented working approach
- Willingness to take responsibility and make decisions
- Fluent business English
- Willingness to travel
