The Section Digital Products MR within the Business Technology Department at Munich Re is responsible for delivering digitalization initiatives across the full life cycle. We build digital business: From ideation, prototyping and digital product design through to production-quality delivery of scalable products. Based on business needs we implement highly reusable, multi-tenant insurance and risk assessment platforms in the cloud.

 

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Technical Architect with a current focus on RealytixZero, Munich Re’s innovative low-code-no-code Rate-Quote-Bind platform. This position will be located in Munich.

 

Your Job

  • Technical ownership, i.e. responsibility for the technical design and implementation of technology solutions as part of a digital product team (current focus RealytixZero backend team). Represent the product team in decision making bodies.
  • Design market leading, scalable, high quality technology solutions to support the ambitious business growth plans.
  • Translation of business requirements to innovative and cost-efficient IT product features that support the expansion and digitization of our underwriting book.
  • Follow clean architecture principles, select the appropriate patterns (e. g. CQRS) and lead the team in implementing the patterns.
  • You are accountable for the backend code quality. As such you lead code reviews, drive peer programming, tool chain updates and code refactoring.
  • Master all areas of backend technology in the solution covering both infrastructure and code components (rest based API controllers, house-keeping services, CI/CD pipelines, data access and database design)
  • Ensure IT requirements related to a stable, secure and reliable product run are properly reflected in the product development roadmap.
  • Use DevOps tools and live DevOps principles for product operation: you build it, you own it, you run it.
  • Align with relevant other Group Technology Departments (Enterprise Architecture, IT Security, Service Delivery, …) for proper, consistent, cost efficient, secure and compliant use of technology in line with internal guidelines, in particular OneEssentials.

 

Your Profile

  • Several years of experience in IT, preferably in application development and hence in-depth knowledge of the entire agile software development and product life cycle.
  • Track record of successful implementations that delivered value to the business, resulting in measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge about clean coding, object-oriented development principles, patterns, UML and agile development practices as well as DevOps principles.
  • Deep technical knowledge and documented senior level experience in Microsoft technology, e.g., C#, Azure Cloud Services.
  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development
  • Ideally experience with LLMs.
  • Very strong analytical and communication skills, networking and leadership skills, excellent team player.
  • Ability to work in global and virtual teams with a highly diverse culture.
  • Strong commitment, desire to drive teams and topics.
  • Creativity, cost consciousness, can-do mentality and desire for life-long learning .
  • Fluent in English and preferably German.
