Munich Re`s Group Sustainability Department shapes the ESG Strategy for the entire Group and advises the ESG Committee of the Board of Management on strategic sustainability topics. The department oversees ESG governance across the Group, sustainability performance in Own Operations and the integration of ESG criteria into (Re)insurance and Investments.
Through diverse projects and activities, we embed climate, social, and governance considerations into our business and Own Operations in close collaboration with stakeholders across business units and global locations. We also position Munich Re strategically on ESG topics, engaging in discussions with internal stakeholders (e.g., ESG Committee, business units) and external partners (e.g., clients, industry associations, ESG rating agencies, NGOs). We are looking for an intern with knowledge of sustainability topics, project management skills, ideally experience in financial or insurance markets, and a high motivation for strategic work to take on the following tasks:

 

Your Job

  • Support due-diligence processes and responses to internal and customer inquiries on topics such as Munich Re Climate Ambition, Own Operations, Human Rights, Controversial Weapons, Biodiversity or Corporate Citizenship
  • Assist the Munich Re Group Human Rights Officer with research in the ESG databases, the annual Board of Management update and external Human Rights reporting, among other tasks
  • Assist in preparing for the Annual General Meeting, NGO dialogues and the subsequent analysis of topics raised
  • Support the completion and analysis of ESG ratings and reporting requirements
  • Conduct research and analysis, and develop presentations on topics such as emerging sustainability issues, peer review, and methodological reporting aspects
  • Assist with projects and task planning, including team meetings and minutes

 

Your Profile

  • Enrolled in a degree program in economics, business administration, engineering, natural or social sciences, or related fields
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • First experience with sustainability topics through studies, internships or work
  • Understanding of financial/insurance market ESG requirements is a plus
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken; German is a strong advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Copilot, ChatGPT is a plus
  • Highly motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects within deadlines
  • Strong commitment, team spirit and collaborative mindset

 

Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
