Solution Architect - Intelligent Document Processing (m/f/d)*

The Data Intake Team operates and continuously evolves enterprise-wide Data Intake and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platforms across the global organization. The team enables business process automation by providing scalable document ingestion, extraction and integration capabilities using platforms such as SmartFIX, Instabase, Seeburger and internally developed microservices and APIs.
Working closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams and platform engineers, IT Platform Services supports strategic transformation initiatives by designing and implementing intelligent data extraction and intake solutions. This includes the integration of AI-driven document understanding, custom extraction pipelines and modern cloud-native architectures into critical business processes.
The Solution Architect reports to the Head of Sub-Section IT Platform Services – Data Intake. In this role, the Solution Architect is responsible for driving architecture, solution design and technical implementation guidance for Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) initiatives with a focus on SmartFIX and Instabase platforms. The role combines business consulting, solution architecture and hands-on technical expertise in AI-enabled document processing and enterprise integration.
The position requires close collaboration with business projects to analyze document processing requirements, design extraction logic, guide integrations into downstream business systems and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements and operational excellence principles.

Your Job

• Driving the solution architecture for Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) initiatives and document automation projects across multiple business domains.
• Translating business requirements into scalable technical architectures and implementation concepts for document ingestion, classification and data extraction.
• Designing and implementing intelligent extraction logic using SmartFIX, Instabase and custom-developed processing services.
• Supporting business projects end-to-end from requirements engineering and proof of concepts to implementation and productive rollout.
• Designing integrations between IDP platforms and enterprise business systems using APIs, messaging and microservice architectures.
• Developing and guiding custom extraction pipelines and AI-assisted document processing solutions leveraging LLMs and Agentic AI concepts.
• Defining prompting strategies and orchestration concepts for Large Language Models within enterprise-grade document processing workflows.
• Collaborating closely with development teams to ensure maintainable, secure and scalable implementations using modern software engineering practices.
• Providing architectural guidance and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, cloud governance and security requirements.
• Supporting operational excellence, monitoring and continuous optimization of existing IDP services and platforms.
• Evaluating emerging technologies, market trends and AI capabilities in the area of Intelligent Document Processing and automation.

Your Profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Informatics or equivalent qualification.
• Several years of experience as Solution Architect, Technical Architect or Senior Developer in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on software engineering background, preferably with C# and modern backend or microservice architectures.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native solution design principles.
• Practical experience with Intelligent Document Processing platforms such as SmartFIX, Instabase or comparable IDP/OCR solutions.
• Experience designing integrations using REST APIs, event-driven architectures and enterprise integration patterns.
• Knowledge of document processing technologies including OCR, classification, extraction and validation workflows.
• Good understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering and Agentic AI concepts in enterprise use cases.
• Experience developing or integrating AI-assisted extraction pipelines and automation services is considered a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to bridge business and technology perspectives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in international and cross-functional environments.
• Ability to work independently in complex and fast-paced project landscapes.
• Experience working in regulated enterprise environments is beneficial.
• Excellent command of English; German is considered an advantage.
